Britain's biggest ever bank robbery

Yeah, you're right in a way (although kidnapping family members is always wrong).

But who owned this money - they are insured right - they'll probably over-estimate how much was nicked and make a profit themselves.
It probably wasn't benefit money going to the neediest section of society eh?

It's enterprising isn't it - kind of.

I remember the row when they put the cost of a pint of cider up a whole 2d (that's half a groat) to 1s 10d just before decimalisation.

With the organisation to pull off a robbery like that it could be an unemployed football manager?

Sarf East London and north Kent has always been the unofficial capital of Britain's armed robbers. Villians like Kenneth Noye and the Brinks Mat brigade all came from around here. There are more armed robbers per square mile in this unlovely area than anywhere else in the UK.

If you're thinking of opening a small post office in Dartford - just DONT ! :shootself

Not in Brighton, it wasn't.

Tamplin's Sussex Bitter was 2s3d well before the end of the sixties.

The cheapest post-decimal bitter I can recall was 13 pence a pint -

All Truemans pubs in London were about the same price and mine was outside of Kings Cross Station, The Earl Russel in Pancras Road so it wouldn't have been the cheapest.

Night before decimalisationOrd Cask Bitter was 1/11p, Keg Special which had only just come out in 1969 was 2/1d Tuborg Lager was 2/1d Gin Whisky Rum was 1/8d didnt sell Vodka as it was sold much as was Draught Guinness. Bottled Guinness 1/11 1/2d bottle. Bottle of Carlsberg was the dearest 2/3d

Apparently the little 8 year old son is completely traumatised by the kidnap. I wonder if they would have used their guns if the wife and boy had put up any sort of resistance? :nono:
