Mascots :nono:
Music after goals :nono:
Cheerleaders :nono: (though I expect the guys to disagree)

If you want to go down that particular road, why not go the whole hog and introduce the following further great American sporting innovations....

-dividing the match into quarters, for more TV advertising breaks?
-issuing the entire crowd with giant foam hands to point irritatingly?
-having people walking up and down the aisles selling food and drink (what am I saying, that's a great idea)
-having no passion at games whatsoever?
-moving teams between different cities because some chairman couldn't be arsed with the existing one (oh, that already happened...)
-managers having to wear enormous earphones and mikes to communicate with their teams
-officials in black & white stripes and tight pantaloons

Bring an mp3 player with headphones and your choice of 'goal' music

Bring a stuffed toy seagull

When a goal is scored press play and make your toy seagull dance.

You get what you want, we get to point at you and laugh.

Sorted

No it was not just me that thought up the petition. I started a poll on Planet Albion and the majority on there said they wanted Gully back. As he would be good entertainment. It was the same thing on the Offical Seagulls messageboard the majority there wanted him back. So its not just me and little kids.

yeah, it may be the majority, but only 6 have voted

Look the only thing that we want is a mascot, not the cheerleading, the dividing the match into quarters, or any of the Yank style stuff. All this petition is about is to get Gully back. Not to turn Albion matchs into American style games. Anyway we have 10 signatures. Don't worry seagulls4ever there is other seagull fans out there that want Gully back.

I always used to think it was Mark Farrington or Andy Kennedy in the suit. They weren't earning their wages any other way.

Did my eyes deceive me or was Gully at the march? I hope he doesn't put in an appearance at Withdean. Or crappy music when we score. The music drowns out celebrations.

Does anybody remember the 'penis' mascot at Southend?

A mascot would be great. Gully would be great entertainment for all ages, especially the younger children. I'm glad me and Strike started this campaign, even if it isn't proving too popular. Maybe not now, but certainly when we are at Falmer we should have a mascot!

No! No! No! And a thousand times more - NO!

Especially at Falmer.

Sorry to rain on your parade, chaps but what, exactly is the "entertainment" value of a mascot? Other than as a handy target for abuse, that is. Although I guess the abuse has some value to the "younger children" if only in terms of broadening their vocabulary.

But for sure, young 'uns certainly DON'T need their introduction to football tarnished by some dodgy costumed character poncing around on the sidelines.

If you want this sort of entertainment go to Disneyland. And take fecking Gully with you! :censored:
