yes because he turned out to be very shit banging 20 odd goals a season for Manchester United.

On the other hand, Matt Thornhill was meant to be tipped to be a star of the future but he was absolutely shocking, last I heard he was playing for Barnet.

Oh come on mate. He could of been SO much better. When he was 17 we thought we had the next Bobby Charlton,he's not even half the player. A massive dissapointment. IMO of course.

Much like Joe Cole, he's not crap by any means, but he's nowhere near the player we all hoped he would be, particularly at international level

Expectation levels are too high when they're at an age like that.

Exactly what i meant. Ok he scores a lot of goals for United, but look at the players he's played along side. If he played for lets say Fulham, he wouldnt of scored half the goals he has. And he certainly hasn't done it consistantly at international level has he?. Ok, calling him crap may be a bit harsh, but he hasn't become the player he could have..yet that is. He still has time to change my mind though.

Yeah maybe. But with Rooney it has more to do with temperemant than ability. Messi hasn't done to bad with the high expectations has he?
