In a pile of football shirts
I'm going to stick my neck out here and predict that Loft will have a good season with Brighton this year.

Hope you have a tough neck, I thought he was a waste of a shirt last night in most parts. We were playing the architypal bunch of plumbers, accountants and gardeners, our players in midfield and up front looked like they had never played pro football for much of the game. Sorry, but I would be dissapointed to see any of the forwards or midfielders from last night playing in the 1st team. I'd like to be proved wrong though, they are Albion players, and for that I support them, but some of them just don't seem to put in anough effort or have the ability. IMO of course.

All I can say is you cannot have seen him play much. Whilst there is some talent there, he does not seem to be able to produce, especially when he starts games, why he got another year with us is a mystery.

Just hope he has given the pictures back.

 only time will tell i guess

Virgo and Hawkins had an easy time under the high ball. Gargan looks pretty promising, Jake looked OK when he ran with the ball, but the rest were pretty uninspiring on a dry and uneven pitch.

Fraser and Loft in midfield were particularly unproductive.

Too many players were looking for a 40 yard diagonal glory pass... rather than doing the simple things well.

In the end, the plumbers and gardeners ran out of steam and it was all too easy to exploit the time and space.

Bob Booker, who was in charge, shouted a lot and didn't look over-impressed with much of what was going on.

The burger and chips was pretty good, and served on a china plate with a knife and fork! The beer was cheap and cold.

A different manager might get the best out of some of these players though!

I think Micky will have a clear out come January though

There needs to be something to work with though and although Loft might have some basic talent he has done nothing to suggest he is going to be a starter and does not have the physical strength to survive in the middle of the midfield.

Why is he going to have a clear out in January? It would mean paying contracts up as we are not going to be able to sell Loft / Fogden etc.

Why on earth not?? Maybe not for a lot but there is still a market out there in the blue square premier?

Agree with the others who were there and have posted. Only thing to add is that I thought Chamberlain has a good touch and is a possible for the first team.

Indeed... and very enthustiastic too... and confident enough to shout at senior pros when necessary.

Maybe because these players are no better than what Crawley etc already have. Look at the last couple of season, we have rarely been able to sell our reserve players (other than Elder). So if for no apparent reason, we are going to have another clear out in December, it is going to mean paying up contracts, which would then eat into the January transfer budget.

True. So how many players only have a year on their contract left?

So if most of these youth team players aren't going to make the grade have we been fooling ourselves about the legacy of Dean Wilkins?

As somebody said to me at the OGH testimonial game Loft got a new contract so that he can drive White to the training ground if he has had too much to drink the night before. Many a true word said in jest.
