Brighton vs Boston match thread

Quiz question: so when was the last time you saw a team camp 10 men in their own half for virtually their entire game AGAINST US? :lolol:

We obviously struggled against that novel concept for a long time and there were a few disappointing performances from some of our players.

But credit to Paul Reid who maintained his high standards of this season with a goal he started with a run from the halway line - not sure if the 1-2 was with Alex Revell but he was the other player who I really admired tonight, you will never see a player run more yards than him for the cause and he was very unlucky with a nice turn and snapshot that just went past the post.

Liked what I saw of Georges Santos but obviously this was no great defensive test but a night of some decent positives.

Very true. I think we had enough experience to put Rents in, rather than Mayo.

They did like the men behind the ball, didn't they LI?!!
I also liked what I saw of Santos. Very commanding in the air and got a decent pass to him. I would be disappointed if McGhee dropped Kuipers after that performance.

I'd be disappointed if he dropped our international keeper! :D

Good stuff from Kuipers tonight but all he had to deal with was a couple of set-pieces, couple of good saves but you'd have been disappointed if those shots had gone in, n'est pas?

Yes I would but he didn't put a foot wrong and kept command of his box very well.

The international card should not keep the jersey. I am happy for either of them to play, but it would be very harsh on Michel to drop him.

Yes, he did. But very easy when Boston committed no players forward in general play. But we'll see Kuipers again at Bristol, that'll be his big test, not tonight.

Thought Santos impressed (not slow and lardy and creaky a la Junior Lewis like I was expecting). Formed a good understanding with Joel Lynch.

As a spectacle it was the pits tho. Almost ashamed to say I didn't overly care who won, just so long as we didn't have to sit through another half hour of it.

Burnley last year.

Bit disappointed one or two more youngsters didn't get a look in, particularly Rents and Fraser who I'd have had in over Hammond and Mayo.

Kuipers did well. Reid was superb. That's about it.

When did you see Junior Lewis play? From my memory he wasn't that slow and definitely not lardy, creeky perhaps!

Henderson is injured so expect FDM in on Sunday.

I thought, given that Boston had all eleven men behind the ball pretty much continuously, that it was a display of patience and discipline. At no point did they resort to lumping it, they tried to pass the ball, and they won the bloody game. Still some people around me, who spent much of last season complaining that we were launching it long to small front men, complained we weren't getting the ball forward quickly enough. No pleasing some people.

We're through a round which saw plenty of clubs knocked out by teams lower down, and a winning habit is a good thing. The save Kuipers made from the long range shot, which was low, swerving away from him and travelling at some speed, was superb, and he did well to keep out the shot on the turn which led to the goalmouth melee later.

My only complaint is that I too would have given Rents a run out. Mayo's good start to the season at Rotherham has dissipated pretty quickly, his lack of pace is becoming a real problem, I can't see what harm it would have done to have a look at one of the supposedly better kids in the system, in a game like this.

Ho hum.

congrats, considering the amount of higher placed teams who lost to inferior opposition you should be happy.

Home tie to Leeds next round?

Premiership boys into next round draw.

A nice away tie, and a good draw could see us really benefit financially, whilst some of you may mock, I was there in the pissing rain cheering the boys on, and if that little added support made some difference in my team benefiting (be it financially) then so be it.

I support the Albion, through thick and thin, through wind and rain, I just wish everyone else was so passionate, and with the drive for Falmer we could really do with more healthier crowds to back our case.

Sorry to disagree but he had one save to make all game, I'd have been disappointed if he hadn't made it. His kicking still looks nervous, Albion legend for sure, best keeper at the club alas no, Henderson starts IMO.
