Pitch inspection tomorrow
Why dont they call it off now theres no way this game is going to go ahead, if Arsenal cant stage there game what hope does it leave for us?
Pitch inspection tomorrow
We took a coach load from the White Admiral Pub. Utter hoolifest. We all sat on the coach by St. Peters Church waiting for word that the game was on. Memory is softening with age but I remember getting stopped by police on the A1 as they checked the bus for booze (which had all been consumed and empties chucked out still driving) and weapons. We all got out and were pissing up the side of the bus. The copper in front told the driver that he was losing antifreeze!!!!!!!! as the stream of piss moved by. Into the ground, pitch looked like an ice skating rink. All of us (pre-Hillsborough) stuck in the terrace behind the goal. Never felt more packed in than that day. We went down 1-0, pulled it back, 2-1, pulled it back again. The Boro lads were giving it the large all game. After the draw, many of the boys headed into town and were escorted back by the constabulary and we were "uninvited" to ever return again.
Those were the days............

We had 6,000 there and there was 19,000 for the replay. I think Dean Saunders scored the winner with a 20 yarder into the south stand.Jacobs scored I think, maybe Fashanu as well. At least 5k packed into London road, most packed ever that day. We won the replay 1 - 0 through Alan Biley I think to go into 1/4 finals against southampton
I did!!! I am sure Dean Saunders scored the winner in the replay!!We had 6,000 there and there was 19,000 for the replay. I think Dean Saunders scored the winner with a 20 yarder into the south stand.
Did anyone else on here go down to the Goldstone to clear the snow from the pitch so that the replay could go ahead? I remember there about 1-200 of us helping out, including SIR Chris Cattlin who was manager at the time. When the job was done, he gave a rousing speech about how we were going to sort out Peterborough and march onto GLORY. Should have saved his speech for the Southampton game when we played fecking SHITHOUSE.
Is that the game where one of the Peterborough goals was a shot skimming along the ground, which hit a frozen rut and ballooned over Digweeds head into the goal?? Cup game I think.
It was, indeed, 2-2 in the snow at peterborough and also 2-2 in the snow V Torquay at the Goldstone in the late 60's when Britishy rail put up signs saying the game was off so under 6,000 attended what could have been a 10-15k crowd.
On the Big match revisited, a few weeks back, they showed man City v Chelsea on a snow covered pitch. Young Clive Walker, with hair flowing, scored.
Can I be the first to moan that this decision has been taken too EARLY?
