PS; I have not had a real downer on David Lopez like many others. But I do think the Solly March crosses were better. The new Spaniard looks the biz, but one right on a plate for Ulloa and could have done a second, but forced the keeper to make a save with a shot instead. It looked effortless as well. Like he could do it again. Not so good heading as Dale Stephens put a corner straight on his head and he could not direct it on. At least Dale Stephens could take corners.

We still have not got a striker to go to the near post.

What is Stephens role? is he holding, or a midfield general, or box to box, or a jockey-ball-watch-go-missing type?

Thought he was poor today tbh.

Ward was my MOTM, brilliant getting forward, astounding crosses, and defended solidly....

Agreed!

West, West, West Sussex.
I agree with the high marks Ward has received but everybody should take 0.5 from his score due to his embarrassing falling over the ball when nobody was near him moment.:)

Tomas 5 Nearly caught out by long balls a couple of times and kicking woeful. Can only assume his yellow boots are sponsored by Fyffes.
Bruno 7 some typical flair moments and fewer catastrophes. Looked our most creative player
Greer 5 Too many long balls and looks like he will get caught in possession too often
Upson 6 Still a bit wobbly by his own standards of excellence
Ward 6 Great cross for the goal, defending adequate but beaten too easily
Ince 5 Good breaking up play but too many simple balls went to opponents
Stephens 5 Some fine blocks but he and Ince alongside each other means zero creativity
March 5 Started well but bizarre decision to move him into more central role curbed his effectiveness. When he's on the ball exciting, but it doesn't happen often enough
Orlandi 5 Our lock picker clearly left his tools at home
Ulloa 6 One goal, one offside goal, one booking, looked better with a foil playing off him.
Rod 5 Certainly fast, Not sure of his effectiveness but worthy of a other start Tuesday

Subs

Kaz 6 Gets people off their seats but still frustrating
Dave 5 Continues to be very meh compared to last season
Obika 5 Not sure he is the answer to our striking concerns.

We were the better team today but Rovers could easily have scored one or two.

Too much possession in our own third of the pitch followed by aimless hoofs.

Kusz 7 - not much to do but did it very well, bit slow distributing at times but has to be given the options to distribute to.

Bruno 8 - always wanted it, always running, a constant and consistent attacking outlet. Bit casual defensively but offers so much more going forward than Calde.
Upson 7 - solid
Greer 7.5 - couple of really intelligent, calm decisions at 1-0 up.
Ward 9 - MoM. Delivered 3 top class crosses, and barely put a foot wrong.

Ince 7.5 - solid game. Hilarious when he got a standing ovation for rescuing a situation he created by being clumsy in the first place, an incredibly English moment there.
Stephens 7 - solid, works hard and puts in a tackle.
Orlandi 6.5 - mixed.

March 8 - really well played, very confident and positive, everything coming through him and Bruno in the excellent first 30 mins.
Rodriguez 7 - flitted about but wasn't played in enough, looks a handful.
Ulloa 6 - would be a 5 but for the goal. Didn't look interested whatsoever, casually strolling back from offside numerous times and was more bothered about getting a foul than winning headers half the time. Hope the goal helps the real Leo come back, we REALLY need him.

Kaz 8 - played intelligently and a good outlet.

Interesting comparisons.

Is 5 average or 7?

Either way, I feel one of you has been a tad harsh on your ratings and one very optimistic.

No way was Solly a 5 and no one was a 9.

Another game of two halves. First half we were brilliant and should have scored two or three. Second half we were poor for a long period but improved in the last 15 minutes. We looked like we cared today and played with enthusiasm, unlike the Watford debacle. An enjoyable game to watch for 70 of the 90.

Kuszczack 6. Distribution poor. Too much booting aimlessly upfield. Worrying.
Bruno 6. Some moments of brilliance mixed in with some sloppy defending. Doesn't matter how good he is going forward, he's a DEFENDER and he needs to be a lot better at that side of his game.
Greer 4. Slight improvement over the Watford game, but far too many misplaced passes and generally sloppy play.
Upson 7. Good game against a poor Donny attack.
Ward 8. Defended well and great cross for the goal plus a couple of other excellent crosses.
Ince 7. Not one of his best games, but strong on the ball and, with a couple of exceptions, some useful distribution.
Stephens 5. OK game. He obviously needs more time to work with the squad. Jury's out for the moment.
Orlandi 6. Decent enough game, but not yet back to his best. Would have liked him to have more of the ball.
Rodrigues 7. Looked to be a decent player. Reaction a bit slow once or twice in the first half.
March 8. Excellent game, particularly in the first half. Strong on the ball and some great ball control. Would have liked him to shoot on a couple of occasions rather than pass.
Ulloa 6. Getting better. Well taken goal. Better at holding the ball up than last week.

Subs:
Lua Lua 6. Would have liked him to have had more of the ball.
David 5. OK
Obika. Not on long enough.

Manager 8 ... for starting with such an attacking line-up, for starting with March, and for dropping Lopez.

This, pretty much (because I'm lazy). March would be my MOM although needs to get a bit better with his decision making in the danger area. Future star though.

Ulloa 5 good goal but otherwise poor. The guy we signed last season would've scored 4 today.

This

Thought March showed why Spanish dave1 should not make the starting line up again this season

There was plenty of attacking promise but a lack of end product today. The fact what we had a good few newcomers in the side would not have helped. Rodriguez looked exciting but may be a bit of a luxury away from home. March looks skillful but there needs to be more of an end product. Great to see Ulloa score.

Defensively we look capable for a top six placing. We just need to get our act together up front.

Meant to add special praise for Upson for getting up after that clattering he took, and quickly going over to the player to show no hard feelings (probably making it easier to not send the guy off). A more dramatic player (I might be mistaken but seem to remember Rodriguez making a meal of one of the challenges on him, and whoever Ulloa almost kicked but didn't for his yellow card (deserved, it was dangerous play reminiscent of Reading, but the doncaster player made a meal of it)). I liked that Upson did that and wish more players (in our side and others') acted like that.

If it had been Mackail-Smith or Barnes on the goal drought that ulloa has been on they would've been absolutely slaughtered, 1 goal since boxing day isn't good enough

TK - 6 some very poor distribution
Bruno - 7 good all round game
Greer - 5 having a very shaky spell
Upson - 7 solid apart from one dodgy header back to TK the nearly put us in trouble
Ward - 7.5 solid at the back and got forward well, put in some decent crosses. MOTM for me
Ince - 7 the pick of our midfielders
Stephens - 6 tidy but a difficult start for him with all the enforced changes in midfield due to injuries
Orlandi - 6.5 good 1st half but faded in the 2nd
March -7 cracking 1st half but they sussed by the restart that he had to cut inside on to his left foot all the time, improved again when he went in the middle
Rodders - 7 good full debut, I was as much impressed with his work off he ball as I was with his work on it.
Ulloa - 6.5 his recent goal drought seemed to be weighing him down and there was relief all round when he scored, you could tell from his reaction how much that goal meant to him.

LuaLua - 6.5 his pace frightened them but he's so frustrating with his end product

Kuszczak -5- Had little to do but his kicking is absolutely embarrassing for a pro keeper and getting worse by the game
Bruno -5- Slowed down the attacks quite a lot and repeatedly ignored good runs for sideways or backwards passes
Greer -5- Poor passing, blaming everyone else for his mistakes as usual
Upson -6- Solid as usual
Ward -7- Our best defender
Ince -7- Very assured and composed
Stephens -6- In and out of the game but looks a very tidy player
Orlandi -6- Did pretty well
March -7- Had their left back tied in knots but final ball a bit poor. Will be a big player for us
Rodney -7- Really promising. Pacy and a bit tricky
Ulloa -5- Great header but still well, well off the pace

Lualua - 7- Had a real impact
David -6- Did OK
Obika - N/A

Kuszczak-7-Claimed a fair few crosses but distribution shaky
Ward-7.5-Assisted the goal and got a couple of decent crosses in, shame he wasn't on D-Rod's wavelength sometimes though
Greer-5.5-A lot of aimless long balls to no one and was lucky that Sharp missed a free header
Upson-8-Solid
Bruno-7-Good going forward and ok defensively
Ince-8.5-Won a lot in the middle of the park today, tidied up very well
Stephens-6.5-Went about his job quietly
March-8-Very pacy and skillful, delivery a bit disappointing at times
Orlandi-7.5-Couple of decent deliveries from set pieces
Rodriguez-8.5-MOTM-Very pacy and intelligent, hopefully him and Ward can build up a partnership
Ulloa-7-Fairly quiet but won a fair few flick ons and got the goal

Subs
LuaLua-7-Threatening as always, was his 'assist' really offside?
Lopez-N/A
Obika-N/A

Agree with this, except Stephens was poor in the second half. I am sure he will come good, but yesterday wasn't a good day for him
