Apologies if fixtures somewhere, but Lee Carswell has announced the England U21 squad for the upcoming matches. Beadle and Hinshelwood are in. Full list here -

Amazed that one or two of those are still U21s, they seem to have bee around for ages. Branthwaite for example, Jay Stansfield too.

Basically any player aged under 21 on the 1st of January in the year the current tournament qualification cycle starts can play all the way through to the completion of the final. This means players don't age out mid competition and all countries can plan knowing they won't lose a player in the middle of the qualification stage. This does lead to some players being overage, but the rules are the same for every nation so its a fair way of doing it.

For the current cycle finishing with this summers UEFA European Under-21 Championship players born on or after January 1st 2002 are eligible to play.

Yeh I know it's all to do with the date the competition started, their age on the relevant 1st. January etc., - but it still is a bit of an eyebrow raiser when you see some of those names listed in an U21 squad!

Mansfield Woodhouse, actually.
Have you ever seen the trophy cabinet? Everything we’ve won has a replica. 3rd div champs 64, 4th div champs2001, 3rd div champs 2002, play off winners 2004, even a runners up cup Championship 2017, plus various replicas of the Sussex Senior Cup.
I doubt very much a Paint Pot trophy will stand out. The development of our youth is important.
Just in case this wasn't corrected later in the thread, 1963-4 was our first season in Division 4, having suffered consecutive relegations. We were champions in 1965 but didn't return to Division 2 until 1972 (as runners-up to Villa).

Quite right. Won nowt in 1964. I do wonder if our 3rd. division (south) 1958 trophy isn't a replica, as that was the last time anybody ever won it? Still not a real trophy, in he way that most of us see it (League (1st. level), FA Cup, League cup, European trophy or any other cup (apart from the Sussex Senior Cup, which is usually - and should be - a given)).
Something like the Paint Pot trophy, like it or not, would be a first.
