Even better if they didn't insist on parking in the middle of the pedestrian crossing at the front of the station leaving the public to squeeze round them or walk right in front of the buses.

In that instance I think it would be perfectly acceptable to walk over the car ...

That's what I meant.

This would be cool. Maybe get some of the farmers to cook up their fayre to sell to passengers. Some benches to sit on, a coffee stall. There is so much potential.

Any cab drivers on here care to impart the views on this issue?

PS I know you're absolutely brimming with views and opinions but please just stick to the taxi rank on this thread.

The rev is a taxi driver I believe :smokin:

Seems like most of them aren't happy seeing as they were protesting about this the other week:

Is the issue with switching it round the back? Or is it with not being able to use the rank (I presume as laid out in the licence ie front) for 3 months? I'm not totally clear what their gripe is.

In all fairness, give a cabbie a topic and they'll moan about it.

Yeah, bloody working class cabbies, how dare they complain. The station is much better off with their like. A farmers market would be delightful.

Move to Lewes.

They are still there. Just not littering the immediate entrance to Brighton and filling the covered area with fumes. Queens Road is bad enough as a welcoming to Brighton without having a vehicle gridlock.

Dropped someone off at the station drop-off point today. It is now a total nightmare with all the taxis taking up the space.

Get over it. The work has to be done at some time. Fecking whingers.

We have work going on at Shoreham station at the moment.
Southwick station has just had work done outside and the rank was closed for a few weeks.
Are we moaning and blocking up the roads?

Oh, and stop flipping in Adur if you're a Brighton cabbie.
It's illegal, and your insurance is void if you do.

Please don't tar ALL cabbies with this issue (or any other).
We're not all total c*nts.

What is flipping?

It's when two gay blokes take it in turns to bum each other isn't it? Why would a Brighton cabbie go all the way to Shoreham to do this?

Can I point out I have nought against cabbies, apart from those opinionated Mail reading ones.

The worst cabbie I had kept going on about how "the jew" was to blame for all the problems in the world.

There's an article in today's Argus about taxi drivers. I cannot help but think they want to have their cake and eat it. In one breath they are suggesting a restriction on the number of licences available and in another they want freedom to adjust their rates. So, cherry picking controlled and free markets for their benefit. And let's not forget they have a monopoly on picking up people from the streets.
