The main sti for gay people is the big one though. A lot of the sti's can only be passed from Woman to Man and vice versa.

Not true , look at the HIV/AIDS situation in Africa plus Chlamydia now prevalent in the gay community.

Gay men, particularly those of the younger 'generation' (ie - 20's/30's) are generally MUCH more conscientious when it comes to safe sex than their straight counterparts.

My girlfriend, who works in the sexual health industry tells me that sexually transmitted diseases are not on the rise, it is just that more people are getting tested. Apparently this is a widely believed view within the sexual health profession. She recons that the numbers will get higher as more and more people get tested before it starts to fall.

This is all bad publicity for Brighton, I think if you've got a std you should keep it to yourself.

Absolutely spot on, except many STI's don't have any noticable symptoms, meaning the carrier won't suspect they have it. In turn, most young people can't be arsed to bag it before they shag it (and older people too - STI rates are known to be on the increase amongst the retired community).

As a gay man who was sitting at home when the article came on, my initial thought was 'I bet Brighton is in there'. Gay men are, off course, more vulnerable-sex is easier. It is not homophobic (whatever that incorrect term means) to say that. I do wish people would try to stop being so P.C.

I would disagree with that. But then I'm older and have had a partner for a few years... (does that sound like a wistful lament...... ?)

I simply do not understand why it travels more in gay people? Straight people get drunk just as much and have one night stands...are gay men really that much more promiscuous?

Only Billy the fish mentioned homophobic, did anyone accuse anyone else of being homophobic then?

No they didn't. But my point is that people tend to shy of statements because they fear such a cry. Which I find annoying. My own feeling, as a homo, is that gay men are more carefree and more prone. There is too much indifference. Some straight people may be wary of saying that. They shouldn't.

Hey, i am on the same side of the fence, but your right of course, but some ppl also take comment far too far through ignorance which annoys me even more

i think the popular misconception is that all gay men are promiscuous.
i am 100% straight, i have a few gay friends and they find this really annoying......the promiscuous bit...not the fact i'm straight.

(although im convinced one of em wants me)

god knows when i were a lad, i was throwing it at anything that had a pulse.
bag it before ya shag it chaps

I find the fact that in no way whatsoever am i a bit camp, but ppl looked almost shocked when i tell them, another really annoying misconception, all gay men are obviously outwardly gay acting. This is the fault of the media.
