Interesting piece in the argus that the club have been attempting to renegotiate Dunks contract. It still goes on to say that we couldn't compete with Fulhams wages.

The header of the article is all about another 2 coming in, no names but references a striker and attacking player. All good stuff but we are really going to need to shift some out if we land another 2 or the squad will be huge.

Why do the club need to compete with Fulhams wage offer Dunk is on a contract, if the club don`t want to sell for whatever reason he should stay

Not that simple, is it? I'm not saying every player is the same but history shows that if a player wants to go their on pitch performance will drop or they'll stop altogether e.g Bridcutt. Man Utd are experiencing the same thing with De Gea at the moment, his heads been turned and it's not worth LVG playing him as it's a risk because he's probably 'not focused'. Sure you can let the player sit their and rot but £5m is a lot of money and could be reinvested. Personally I'd prefer to keep Dunk but only if he wants to be here, otherwise let him go and get top dollar.

Well that counters all the NSC rubbish that we have already spent the money we'll receive for him

:lolol: :lolol:

Squad is currently 27 ( + 2 for Hambo and Harper ), so with 2 more that makes potentially 33.

Rea to go out on loan brings it down by 1, but we really need to get rid of Colunga and Chicksen asap as well, and possibly COG.

Don`t disagree but something has to be done to stop these young players holding clubs to ransom

The Argus reporting this morning that Albion have rejected a FOURTH offer for Dunk from Fulham; the bid
which was in excess of £5 million, still falls well short of the Seagulls’ valuation.

True, but half a dozen of those are filler. Ankegren, Chicksen, Rea(if Dunk stays), Colunga, COG(if we sign another striker) and Hambo(develpment squad signing) will be lucky to muster 10 appearances between them if we do sign two extra players. Only Rea and Hambo have any kind of (playing) future with us(i.e next season and beyond). That would leave us with a much more manageable and realistic first team squad of 25.

He's worth whatever value the club places on him. If we don't want or need to sell that value increases. I find it hard to believe that Fulham won't have been given an idea of our valuation though by this time.

It's clear they think it's about £8 million:lolol:
Time to start playing him as don't see him going for anywhere near that unless it's add on's galore???

What price did that Ipswich center back go for recently? Was it 8 or 9M ?
Plus dunk was top goal scorer so I reckon that's the price they have in mind

If this was a Premiership club bidding £5.5m+ he would be gone. Interesting to see how this plays out

Argus reporting that Fulham came back with another offer for Dunk yesterday ; their fourth which was "in excess of £5m" and has been rejected.

http://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/13619925.Albion_reject_bids_for_Dunk_AND_Stephens/

Albion have turned down a FOURTH offer from Fulham for Lewis Dunk, together with two bids from Derby County for Dale Stephens.
The latest bid from Fulham for centre-half Dunk, which was in excess of £5 million, still falls well short of the Seagulls’ valuation.
Albion have offered Dunk, who has three years left on his existing four-year deal, an improved new contract over a longer period
Derby, meanwhile, have been told in no uncertain terms Stephens is not for sale.
The club are assembling a squad to challenge for promotion to the Premier League, with further attacking additions planned before the transfer deadline, and they are determined to try to hold onto their prize assets.
