Brighton = Proud / Burnley = Embarrassed

After allowing some time to collect my thoughts and reflect upon the game, I have to agree with the likes of Jack Straw in feeling so positive after a defeat.

The ref was the epitome of inconsistency. If he was going to send off Barnes then he should have sent off their bloke for grabbing Barnes' shirt, clenching his fist and threatening to thump him.

Before that, he wasn't even going to speak their player who went in studs up right in front the technical area and obviously didn't send him off.

Noone was blatantly pushed in the back when breaking through their lines during the 1st half and we got nothing.

I would also like to see both the penalty claim and our disallowed goal.

In the 2nd half, I think it was El Abd who had to peel a Burnley players' hands/ arms from around his neck and head....yet again the useless excuse for a ref gave Nada (nor the Asst Ref or 4th Official who were standing close by).

With this as the context, and with playing with 9 men for 79 minutes, I have to take my hat off to the players, Gus for his tactics and the Albion faithful.

Burnley and Eddie "Envelope" Howe (remember Bournemouth last season) should be mightily embarrassed and ashamed with their afternoon.

They had no guile or craft going forwards and proved that they couldn't unlock our defence once they had scored, to capitalise on a great Goal Difference opportunity.

When we put them under pressure during the 2nd half (remember - with our NINE men) they panicked and couldn't get rid of the ball quick enough.

Their fans were non-existent and, in fairness, most probably didn't have the front to create some noise off the back of such a spineless display from their team.

Burnley and their manager need to grow some balls.

It was men Vs boys and the men were wearing Blue & White.

I really hope the Seagulls push on from this now.

Why ? they're a profesional football team. They had a job to do and they did it well. They won the game.

From what i saw on tele, both red cards were completely justified. West ham had two sent off against Reading last week and we got thrashed 3-0....and we deserved it. get over it, put it behind you and move on....it ain't Burnley's fault.

You're on on a wind up. Fair you got an opinion on the Barnes challenge but how can you comment on Vincelot who got sent off for alleged foul and abusive language...did you hear it?

Well, you could take that view......

But then you could also have been at the game, saw the catalogue of errors made by the Ref, Asst Refs and 4th Official throughout the game and revelled at their inconsistency. There were 2 Burnley red cards not given, arguably 3 from where I was sitting in the Amex. In addition to the multitude of smaller decisions which, illogically, went Burnley's way.

They may well have been justified red cards. BUT - the ref didn't apply the laws of the game equitably did he? Oh, sorry, I forgot you weren't there were you??

My other point is that Howe & Burnley should have thought, let's go for the jugular and bolster our GD. Against 9 men for 79 MINUTES anyone with some courage would.

Hence Howe and Burnley have no balls.

The Albion's 9 men should take some real heart from their performances. We almost snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat on no less than 3 occasions in the final few minutes. If we played with that belief and 11 men, then we shouldn't fear anyone in this division.

The first red wasn't even on TV. :nono: I believe, sir, you may have your head firmly implanted within your bowels.

I don't actually remember SSN or even Football League show showing Vincelot incident, where you the referee or the fourth official by any chance?

They did a job, they didn't do it well. 11 v 9 for 80 minutes and they only manage one decent shot on target, then face three or four chances to concede, each of which were better than anything the 11 of them could muster. No. They did not do their job well.

They did do their job well because they won. End of story. Get over it

Clearly you weren't at the game. They didn't do it well. Anyone who actually saw the game will tell you that. They did enough, just, but enough all the same. That is a far cry from doing it well.

BULLSHIT. You saw the first one, did you? HOW, YOU UTTER TWAT.

it ain't Burnley's fault.

Except for the minor fact that by all accounts from everyone who saw the first incident (and also as reported in the Argus), the Burnley bench encouraged the officials to send Vincelot off.

Now please go away.
