Paper poppies with no plastic are sold nowadays. Most of the old established football clubs lost players in the two world wars.Again, other than a clever marketing ploy, I don’t understand this relatively new trend of connecting Football clubs with 11/11. I just buy a poppy, or more frequently these days, just donate rather than continue demand for plastic.
Yes l know that, every business, organisation and association you can think of did also. Don’t see any Badges connecting eg Sainsbury’s with though?! Also, like so much about R day, it’s something the generations that lived through didn’t do so I understand cynics asking why now, and why football clubs. Regardless, as a recent trend if raises money because people like to associate Poppies with their football club that’s all good. I just don’t see the connection and never will. For me it’s a simple day of remembrance and the friend I lost in Afghanistan who never saw his 2nd child born, and his 1st won’t remember.Paper poppies with no plastic are sold nowadays. Brighton was no exception which is why there is a black marble memorial stone in the Memorial garden just across from the club shop.
Helps break the ice at parties…….Again, other than a clever marketing ploy, I don’t understand this relatively new trend of connecting Football clubs with 11/11. I just buy a poppy, or more frequently these days, just donate rather than continue demand for plastic.
