agree ....we are continually getting in each others way in attack sometimes 3 players all going for the same ball , in defence it's the complete opposite with the ball being left by everyone at set pieces ....it really is u 12's stuff , so yeah , as a team, i think we are collectively ,not too sharp.

The thing is I like the passing football, totally agree with it but I think if you are going to play that way to create opening you have to exploit said openings when they come about (bit like the traditional Italian way of playing: slow slow slow slow (for ages in Italy) then Quick quick.

Same goes for the pressing game we play, if you are going to press and cause turnover high up the pitch we have to exploit those chances.

I thought Trossard was shocking for this today.

Tau should have stayed down when he was fouled and the players should have been complaining about , not nasty, no one is harmed but gamesmanship which we totally lack but most of top clubs are great at.

If we had scored today we would still have conceded that penalty because we are not clever enough or switched on enough yet.

I'd agree with you about Tau, but I don't think the penalty would have happened if it had been level. I can't see us trying a risky throw in to get the ball to Sanchez for a punt upfield if we had anything to lose.

That seems a strange thing to criticise the commentators on... we had 5 central defenders, Bernardo and Propper. All tall players. Compared to Man City, we were a big side

I see you have put Bamford in, just say I have been impressed with him this season, i did say when Leeds got promoted that he was useless, barn door Bamford. I was judging him on he previous experience in the Premier league with Norwich and Middlesbrough.

He has clearly improved under Bielsa. Top coach/manager who has instilled more confidence in him, taught him to find better positions and generally, improved his all round play. Enough said.

Good players don't keep making the wrong decisions. If you watch Lallana, he gets it right a lot of the time. He plays the percentages, keeps it simple. Welbeck runs into good positions but its wasted because of poor service. Potterball has, somehow, encouraged a lot of our players to ' overplay ' Instead of keeping it simple and effective, its one pass too many, one overly ambitious pass, a flick or clever turn in the wrong areas. Hence, we play ourselves into trouble or the move breaks down.
Someone needs to get hold of players like Trossard, March, Mac and Connolly, who are all lightweight and tell them to cut out all the fancy, ineffective stuff and simplify their games. We were trying stuff last night that Man City wouldn't do. Play quick, simple and direct football. Pass and go and concentrate on finding better positions.
This squad could achieve more but it has to realise its strengths and weaknesses. Continuing to overplay and over complicate will see us relegated.

If you are going to play a passing game like ours, the tempo is paramount. You cannot allow the opposition to keep settling behind the ball. Quicker movement of the ball is the only way. If you are going to play...slow,slow,slow...quick, quick.....then you need high class strikers to move quickly and be decisive. We ain't got those.

I 100% agree, and it reminds me of Poyet's team with CMS up front. Under Poyet we suddenly looked a much more effective team when Ulloa joined. With Ulloa up front, we had a lot of possession, but we actually a threat from crosses in the area. Unfortunately we have to keep going back, because a cross into the box is meat and drink to most defenders unless there's someone in the box who can challenge for headers, show some physicality, and give the centre backs a hard time.

We just need to be more direct at time. Tonight Trossard (and others) took too many touches or dribbled when they should have played a through ball. Often this happened when we had an attacking overload, we piss about with it and let the opposition get numbers back.

We win the ball high up in the attacking half and instead of punishing we fanny about with it.

Very true, it feels like almost every run our strikers make is a dummy run. It would be too obvious to play the simple through pass and put them in, so we cleverly go sideways and repeat.

We do make some silly mistakes..... but the comment is really about us not being streetwise and we have to change that rapidly.
