I love the pier, My kids love pier(what kids dont), but is the pier for out of towners?

My friend lives in Brighton and he hates meeting me on the pier, hes always moaning "the piers for tourists" ,its to much for him.

Very rarely go on The Palace Pier unless being visited by friend/family from elsewhere.

I go on the pier a fair bit, if my bottle of 2p's has filled up and just want to get rid of them on the 2p machine, if me and the mrs take a walk on the seafront we end up walking on it for a while or in the summer if weather is good then you got to jump off it.

Holds no attraction for me.
Down the seafront most weekends but only been on it probably 8 times in my 50 years, see it as a cash cow for tourists only. can't think why locals would want to go on there for.

I used to go down there when I was younger to go on the electric shock machines. These days I avoid it, I wouldn't be that comfortable taking a child on it anyway.

I used to take my son and daughter to the PALACE pier ten years ago when they were younger. A good afternoon out.

being a local, I might occasionally go on the PALACE pier..

lovely chicken noodle bar (opposite the haunted house), and maybe an ice cream..

but steer clear of the over priced rides, and pubs.

I took my niece and nephew on the Palace Pier a couple of years ago while their dad ran the Brighton Half - that was the 1st time i'd been on there for about 15 years.

I also haven't been on Brighton beach for about 30 years. Have those pebbles gone yet?

You take these things for granted when you've grown up here

tis a funny old world, on one hand Palace are the scum o the earth, on the other, a lot on here (inc myself) will only refer to it as The Palace Pier

When I lived in brighton I used to go on there quite a bit, since I moved back to Horsham I don't think i have been on it more than twice in 10 years.

They changed the name of it didn't they? It's now called the Brighton Pier. It's like a lot of things, Marathons are now Snickers, Jif is now Cif, Kate Middleton is a Duchess, things change. Sadly, the pier too has changed, it is a smelly, noisy rip off, nice on a sunny winters day for a bracing walk, but grotty on a summers day when the food [sic] outles are on full song pumping out putrid for extrotionate prices and the chavvy little scrotes are running around trying to pinch your mobile.

Exactly. I like it LOADS, though go on it only rarely. Any out of town visitors I'll always take them on it for a stroll.

There are days when Brighton & Hove residents get free entry to the Pavilion - don't miss it.
