[Brighton] Brighton is actually a pretty rubbish place to live

As a person born and bred in Crawley, and still living in Crawley, I find it strange how chippy some of you are about a little criticism of your home town.
Crawley is sometimes perceived as the rectum of Sussex, which is quite funny, as the people that say that are usually just passing through.
Think about it.
I love Crawley, love Brighton and love Sussex. Night life is much better in Brighton, bands, bars and restaurants, but for most other facilities, Crawley is better for me.

I've seen two people being critical of the name Atticus on this thread. Personally I love names like this. There should be more Atticus's and Leopold's and Endeavour's. STRONG names.

But do the KIds. It is quite apparent at the school I work at that lots of pupils choose to change their names by which they are referred to. On the registration the preferred name column can be a lot different to the given names.

P.S Brighton is one of , if it the, best place to live in the UK.
I was not born there but lived for 17 years and moving back in a couple of months.
Due to my Dad being in the navy we lived where I was born for about a month then lived all over for years and years. Brighton is the place I have spent most of my life and therefore consider myself a Brightonian. I cannot care if others don't like this.

Sounds like some schools are being sensible, pretty it can't be extended to more places. I'm known by my middle name (as are at least two of my friends) but it causes no end of confusion in some places - I've had people not accepting my signature because it's not my name

Seems to be in vogue to be disparaging about this town. The lot of the urban construct. I love Brighton, and spending time elsewhere causes me to miss the place.

After living in Surrey for 3 years as it have you'd fall back in love with Brighton. A break was good but my goodness you realise what you're missing when you live in other places.
The iconic buildings, the women, the nightlife, the choice of pubs and restaurants, the freaks, the diversity, the interesting streets, the downs, the beach, casual sex, venues and bands, The Amex, on and on it goes. Where I currently reside there's a Starbucks, a Waitrose and 1 shitty pub overrun with kids.

My first landlord in Brighton had a mate who was a Pink Floyd roadie. His daughter was blessed with the name Parody Tralala. Round about the same time was a story in the Argus about how the registrar had refused to register one couple's kid with the name Beelzebub

One of my sons went to school in Lewes, he was in a school play or something where parents were invited to watch, all of the names of the pupils in the play were listed in a program, my wife kept asking what I was sniggering at when I was reading the names.
Who the hell calls their kid Zippy? FFS

I worked at a house in Lewes and the customers son was called Felix, nothing strange about that except the cat was called John.
