It was very grating to hear Martin Tyler bang on about this on the tv, and not a mention of our numerous absentees. Not one. Only that Pervis and Jakub were back. It's almost as if an analogy between King Canute holding back the tides, and older should-know-better commentators wilfully ignoring what all footballing folk know, is screaming out to be made.
Our starting XI and bench was a lot stronger than Spurs

If Igor is injured and Dunk is suspended, Christ knows who we're playing at the back against West Ham. Baleba?

Facu would be a loss as well

Enjoy the night and next few days. Special times, revel in the performance and win.

[I block doom’n’gloom injuries threads in the build up to games, then ].

From BBC just now:
"
Manager Roberto De Zerbi has bemoaned Brighton's reliance on youth recently, but 18-year-old Hinshelwood was superb at right-back and took his goal with aplomb.

His strike was Brighton's 19th by a teenager in the Premier League in 2023 - Manchester United have the second most with four. Brighton's tally has only been bettered twice in Premier League history by Liverpool in 1998 (25) and 1994 (22)."
All the other clubs put together have 16!

Wow. That RDZ interview is interesting.

He really pressing the fact he had to sell his best players in the summer, I hope he isn't forced to again, or he might leave.

Some excellent performances tonight and loads of pretty good. Motm for me was Jao Pedro as he didn't stop running and of course put away 2 penalties, some close runners up though.

1998 would be the season Owen scored a load. 1994, Robbie Fowler. Not sure if they had any others in those seasons.

…apart from his comment, “the other 8 of 9 big teams in the Premier League [eg top half sides] - they do not sell their big players.”

Haha what's he on about ! Spurs literally sold their best player. He seemed to be indicating that Pedro was gonna be sold at the end of the season as well. I guess it's a ploy to get backing in Jan but it's a tad painful.
I didn't think he meant it like that- to me he was simply praising/highlighting how well we've done/are doing with injuries etc considering we're not a big club who don't sell their best players - simply saying is as it is.

Glad I got Prime working after early gremlins !!
On the subject of Prime, I just clicked on the match, and it's supposed to show the whole thing, but it's just showing a post match interview. I hope they notice and fix it.

Not totally forced but both players wanted to go and there were plenty of wealthy suitors so quite hard to keep them. Not sure any of the players we have now are in the same position.

Some managers do this, the media saying that Angie’s been doing the same for weeks …. publicly pressurising for a big transfer window.

He flapped about at all four of their goals, if we're including the two that were disallowed. He never got near the Son and Richarlison efforts that went wide/hit the post as well.

He's just a shockingly shite keeper... yet he's WORLD CLASS on the ball.

If you were right (you're not) then De Zerbi, who is a top manager and obviously knows far more than you (and the rest of us), would not pick him.

Yes De Zerbi takes into account Steele's ability on the ball, but he would not pick him if he was a shockingly shite keeper.

What is shockingly shite, is your ability to judge players.
