Sorry I'm not getting the "we played Well" comments.

In what way did we play well? by having some possession after they were 1-0 up?

We were poor,
Plenty of mis-placed passes.
De Zerbi won't be happy with the way we gave away possession continually.

Mitoma looked good.
March/Groß/Trossard/Welbeck were poor.
Caicedo not much better.

Out-thought and out-played

This is not the game I watched. We outplayed a champions league quality side today.

Really?

We lost the tactical battle in midfield - they played a 5 with 3 CDMs - and we chased shadows for much of the first half as we were overrun.

They pressed and anticipated much better than we did all game, even after dropping off the intensity post-30 mins.

We over-played in the final third when we should have been doing what we did at Anfield. Pass and move, quickly, shoot.

Lost to a better, more organised (and much better-funded) team, today but they had to play full-on for the full game to win it.

Not the end of the world, if we pick up wins in the next two.

I don't think it was as bad as some seem to think... some decent football from time to time and a few chances created. But when Solly, Tross and Gross all have off-days at the same time (while Welbeck has no confidence in the penalty area)... Brighton are just not going to score.

Thought Solly had a great game.

We were second best pretty much the whole match. Spells of possession in the second half but always felt that they had us under control and we’re just managing the game out looking for another on the break. The complete lack of real chances the proof. He’s been great and it feels bad to say it but Gross looks like he’s struggling to fit into the fast passing through the middle tactic. Dolly, Max, and Mitoma our stand outs. Would like to see more of Gilmour who looked very bright for the short period he was in.

A lot of baffling negativity on here - we were fantastic today. Some people cant see past the score.

In reality the truth lies somewhere in the middle. We weren’t “fantastic”, but we weren’t dire either. It was an off day, a touch below par.

They absolutely weren't, bar scoring. Much of a muchness. Not buying this out thought etc. Loads of mis-placed passes etc from them too

Scoring is what makes the differenxce though.
If we had scored first, do you honestly think that they would have failed to have a shot on target in the second half?

Yet we still had more possession than them and more shots on goal ???

How can you say we were poor. We bossed large portion of the Game had several shots just wide and Dunk headed just over. Tottenham are one of the League leaders. Great performance again from a good Brighton team is what I saw.

Disappointing but watching on Sky was so irritating, Andy Hinchcliffe must have had a Spurs shirt on to commentate. You’d think we were played off the park, his Spurs bias was so strong.

I thought we had the best chances but Welbeck (who played well) really needs to find his shooting boots. Very even game but Spurs took their slightly fortuitous chance. Sanchez did make a couple of good saves but I hope De Zerbi asks him to change his clown shoes for long clearances :lolol:

I'm probably Solly's biggest fanboy, but he really didn't.

Bemused that anyone could think Solly was our best player today or even close.
He was found wanting in all the key moments he was involved in.

Try not to conflate performance with result.

If we had scored a 96th minute equaliser off Dunk’s arse, the narrative would be it was a “deserved point”.

I understand football is tribalistic and, let’s face it, most football fans aren’t exactly known for their critical thinking skills, but I am surprised by people sometimes.

A decent performance overall, it was just one bit of class in front of goal which settled it. A very good tactical set up from Conte and their press was tireless; their low block was impenetrable.

Our all-round play was fine; I’m not sure we were much worse today than against Liverpool, the difference being Højbjerg, who was absolutely everywhere today, compared to the very lacklustre Liverpool midfield.

We just badly lacked a cutting edge today. Too many players passed the ball (and, indeed, the buck) when they should’ve at least tested the keeper. Caicedo, Welbeck and Lallana when he came on were definitely guilty of this.

I thought Dunk was tremendous (one moment dozing off and getting rolled by Kane aside) and was my Albion MOTM. Trossard unfortunately for us had a real off day, as did MacAllister and Caicedo. Welbeck was his usual self - his usual never-looking-like-scoring self.

After scoring three last week at Anfield, it’s hard to be too critical about our attacking prowess, but today was one of those not looking like scoring days.
Agree with much of this, but from my seat in the north I thought Mcallister had a good game. Dunk was superb. Draw would have been a fair result.

Biggest concern when you lose a manager you wanted to keep is that the team will capitulate. The Liverpool and Spurs results are probably identical to what Potter would have managed, so I actually find tonight very uplifting and reassuring that De Zerbi’s Albion can continue where Graham left off with no major downturn in form.
