Win against Cardiff and it opens 11 pts gap and really applies the pressure on Reading and the chasing pack. Sociological warfare. We've coped under pressure, will the rest?

51 points before January, 4 points more than last season, three positions higher and 16 games unbeaten, job well done this year, let's make 2017 a better one!

EDIT: A bit inaccurate there, still a decent place to be!

I thought I heard the stadium announcer give to Knocky but Sky gave to to Glen.

Bong/Baldock/Bruno all contenders too

Sponsors MOM was Knocky, Sky gave it to Murray. Sky can't automatically give the Sponsors as they obviously only choose a home player. If we lose, likely to be an away player who is genuinely MOM

The nature of true, dyed in the wool football support is that your love for your team is unconditional. You'll keep coming back, week in week out, regardless of what you are served up. My God, we've done just that over the years. But when those good times come around they are so much the sweeter for the years we spent watching Peter Smith put another shot over the back of the Priestfield terracing.

It's hard to explain to a non-Seagull just how exciting these times are. There is so much to admire in our squad. With quality in all areas we can generally rely on enough players having a good day for us to be a match for any team in the division. We have a manager simply dripping in assurance and integrity. The whole thing is backed up by a chairman who is a genuine supporter, who has backed the club with serious amounts of his own cash and who has built, from the ground up, a team worthy of challenging for a seat at the top table. I almost get weepy typing it and I almost pity the supporters of larger clubs that have never had to work for the joy they get dished up most years.

In the words of Tim Booth (featuring Angelo Badalamenti)... "I believe".

Surely in that position a foul has to be a red?
That's the thing - I'm with everyone else and think it was really harsh, but I've forgot what the rule is. I think it was a foul, just. Is the ref supposed to give a free-kick for a foul, or does he have to give a red as it denied a goal scoring opportunity?

As highlighted, although it was never a red card, the ref got it wrong. I can't see it not being appealed.

In what way did he get it wrong? It certainly denied a goal scoring opportunity.

He got it wrong if you think it wasn't a foul. To me it was incredibly harsh, looked like a fair, strong challenge.

As it was outside the area, if the ref thinks it denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity then it has to be red. If it had been inside the area and the ref thought it was a foul but was also a genuine attempt to play the ball then it is yellow and a pen; if the ref thinks it wasn't an attempt to play the ball (eg holding) then it is red and a pen.

I saw it as a 50/50 challenge, for what its worth with the multiple replays the SKY pundits saw it that way too.
Not quite true. One of the pundits said it could have just been a yellow.

When I first saw it, I thought:
"Sam's going to be away here and not caught - Onuoha had barged into Sam and knocked him down"
Seeing the replays I'm not sure sure of the second part, it does look a bit more 50/50, but maybe Sam just got ahead. Difficult to call, but if that's anywhere else on the pitch and we're given a free-kick, no one's going to complain.

Yep, but I'm not sure it wasn't a foul.

To me it was incredibly harsh, looked like a fair, strong challenge.
If it was given as a foul elsewhere on the pitch, we wouldn't think it was harsh. Because he's then got to send the player off, it's suddenly looking pretty harsh. Harsh because of the laws of the game, not because the decision was bad.
