In my opinion Igor has played himself into being our first choice left back for now, great performance when he came on.

Not sure what’s happened to Pervis but he seems way off it, must be match fitness or carrying an injury still, hopefully a few weeks of targeted sessions can get him back to where he was

Disagree the next match should be our focus because it is the second leg of our first European competition ever.

I want our best team out there to play at 100% not 80% to see how far we are off the level. I want our best team out there because despite the extreme unlikelihood of us getting through, it is still a European cup competition. I want our best team out there because RDZ and the lads would get a lot of confidence from beating a big club like Roma. I want our best team out there because it is owed to all the fans who bought advance tickets and maybe travelling miles to attend. I want our best 11 out there to show pride and respect to our visitors that even though we are all but beaten we are a team that will die with our boots on.
Oh, I'm happy if we beat them 1 - 0, but I don't for one second think we're winning 5 - 0. That said, I'd rather we regroup, don't take too many risks, avoid anymore injuries and attempt to be be back in Europe next year, via our League position.
I understand your viewpoint, but I feel that prudence is called for, on this occasion.

Was always going to be a tough game after our game on Thursday, playing a team fighting relegation and feeling cheated by a ‘poor’ refereeing decision last week.
We can now focus on getting a win against Roma without any pressure. We aren’t going to win 5-0 but we should be looking to win.
Then a nice rest and a focus on gaining 7th place or better to get us back into Europe.
Billy Gilmour and Pedro back then hopefully.
2/3 first team squad signings over the summer, and a return of Mitoma, March and Hinshelwood and we’ll all be looking forward.
Amazing what a win does to the optimism levels. 😁

I thought we managed the game out well. If you’re playing badly (“or not at your best” to use a kinder sounding euphemism) at least be sensible - something we definitely didn’t do against Roma, who to be fair have much better players.

There seems to be a real lack of confidence in our attacking play (Enciso being the exception - the lad is walking confidence personified). Lamptey had moments too, so much of our play lately is backwards when in fantastic positions we’ve worked hard to get in to.

I know the “Albion are always in the right” brigade will disagree with me, but really the game hinged on Moder’s yellow card. Massive shades of Dahoud against Sheffield United - underwhelming home performance against a poor side changed by a 70th minute red.

It absolutely should’ve been a red - a pretty clear one too and an awful foul. We’ve really gotten away with that one today, which IMHO would’ve changed the game.

Delighted with the scrappy 3 points and clean sheet when we are at a low point.
Having seen it back I don’t think it’s a red.

Or no more so than the second yellow their guy should’ve got. It evened itself out either way.

We ain’t going to win 5-0. Getting 7th place is far more realistic.

Sussex, by the sea
Forest were almost as shithouse as Villa.

BV is our No1.
Fati is a waste of a shirt.
Moder played well.
3 points, clean sheet and a confidence bounce we desparately needed, but we were painful to watch, so negative, Potterball with a whiff of CH at times.

Gross was masterful in injury time, so funny.

Looking at the highlights on Sky, I'm angry we didn't get a penalty when Dunk was hauled down in the box, 29 minutes in.

:ROFLMAO:

That’s not what I said tbf - I said it was an extreme unlikelihood but that is not why I think we should play to win.

I agree re risks but every match we play is risk adverse - I think it would be really bad form to treat us playing the Europa as if it were a 4th round Carabao cup tie whether we have a chance of going through or not. I have a suspicion RDZ will want to field the best players we have available too - he will be keen to show De Rossi Brighton at its best.

After Roma, we don’t have another match until 31st March - 3 weeks is plenty of time to regroup and deal with minor scrapes and bumps.
By all means go for the win - hell, I want that, too - but not a gung-ho, blood and guts performance that has the potential to weaken our already weakened squad further.

Baleba and JpVH played well, thought Dunk had another mare, Fati and Ferguson fairly anonymous.

Moder played well but his poor challenge would have put us down to 10 if VAR did its job.

Don’t be silly - where did I say we had a chance of winning 5-0 - but we should nevertheless play to win. Read my post again please.

Getting 7th place is not mutually exclusive of fielding our best team against Roma - do you really beleive RDZ will go into a European tie with such a defeatist attitude or that TB/PB would have us treat it with little interest in winning?

- we are extremely unlikely to win by margins anywhere near 5 goals but we could still win the match which has value in itself. Even if we lose the match, playing well against Roma will be great experience and an indication of our level in terms of competing at that level. There will be no pressure which is exactly why we could play well.

We have 3 weeks after Thursday before our next League match after that..

Thoughts after getting home soggy after that.

1. Great points and hard fought in difficult emotional circumstances. They can't all be pretty. The coaching staff all jumping on each other shows you what it, and we mean to them. Reminded me of the 1-0 scraped win against Bournemouth last season that set us up for the end of season.

2. Fati - if he wasn't from Barcelona he wouldn't be getting a look in. Absolute garbage. I don't mind a player not up to speed or overwhelmed but the Premier league or whatever but he doesn't look arsed, strolls around and shìts out of tackles. And this is after he's been publicly been asked to sort himself out by the manager. We shouldn't be wasting minutes on this dosser and should be giving Barco a chance in my completely unqualified opinion.

3. Igor a much better option than pervis currently.

4. Moder and Baleba offering presence in midfield a very welcome change from some of our recent efforts. Crunching tackles from both and those turns and runs from Baleba great to see. He's going to be immense when his decision making is on point, my favourite moment was his double step over down the left which sent their defender down the shops for the newspaper.

5. Gross being brilliant again and his vital 18 corners won and top snidery at the end.

6. When's Pedro back? Despite both playing well Evan and Danny both seem terrified of the penalty area and we are more interested in possession than shooting. Look what happened the second enciso had a chance!

7. I was whingeing when he came on but lallanas cameo at the end exceptional for lots of reasons.
