"I'm sure everyone is excited when they watch Brighton"

Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour speaking to Sky Sports:

"I'm really happy from a personal point but last week we weren't good enough and we got beaten, we've come out here today ready and got the three points."

"It's a very competitive changing room, we all want to play every game. We've got a lot of completions to come. When you're in the team, you've got to make sure that's your jersey and give it your all."

On manager Roberto De Zerbi:

"He's really tough, he wants everything to perfect which is great for us because we want to learn and he's a great manager. For me it's been amazing to work with him and great to learn from him every day. He is very strict on how we play and I'm sure when everyone watches Brighton, everyone is excited."

"I'm enjoying my football. To play every game so far has been really good. Gaining confidence and getting minutes in the legs. Getting on the ball as much as I did today has been good."

Dan Burn was our man of the match. Another great performance at the Amex from him. 7 foot 12 bullied by an 18 year old with less than 50 professional appearances. Bravo big man.
I have gone right off that lanky git since his goal celebration at St James Park. Disrespectful prick. Glad he had a mare today

He’s winning the hearts and minds of the faithful. Watching him today, in complete control of the MF - brilliant communication with the forwards, pivoting when needed, very accurate long and short passes and that boot in at Pope that led to the first goal was devilish.

After the spluttering start to his PL career, I couldn’t be more pleased for him.

March- played out of his effing skin today- brilliant

Mitoma- absolutely on fire today. They had no idea what he was going to do next

Van Hecke- ice cool at the back never panicked, hardly did much wrong except was beaten for the Toon goal. Suits De Zerbi ball well.

Ferguson- so strong, wins so many duals, hold the ball up well, every time he gets in the box he looks like scoring. Moves like a wrecking ball, shoots like a traction engine. Another one made for De Zerbi ball, his hold up play is so crucial.

Pedro- his pace and running caused Newcastle all sorts of problems.

When we get it right, De Zerbi ball is a joy to watch. When we get it wrong we get results like West Ham and Everton.

De Zerbi is a maverick and I am coming along for the ride.

"People are going to say it's a deflection but we're going to count it"

Brighton forward Evan Ferguson speaking to BBC Match of the Day:

"It's a good day. The first goal is a striker's thing, you have to be ready. Luckily it fell to me and I could get it in. The second one, we talked about me having a bit more time than I thought in the first half. So in the second half I thought I would get it and turn and tried to run at the defence and get a shot off so then luckily it went in and it all worked out. The third one, it was good to get it in off the mark. People are going to say it was a deflection but we're going to count it."

"It's an unbelievable feeling [to get his first senior hat-trick for Brighton] and it's good to bounce back after last week and get the three points."

On scoring a hat-trick today alongside Son Heung-min and Erling Haaland:

"It's not bad company to be in with them boys. Obviously Haaland's record last season and Son has been doing it for a number of years so it's good company to be in."

On Ansu Fati joining on loan from Barcelona:

"I think he's going to be great for the squad, especially competition, it's tough up our end of the pitch and he's going to be another one chucked in there and I reckon he's going to be very good for us."

What a superb team performance today! We're so good at bouncing back from defeats under RDZ. Nothing seems to faze us at all.

Obviously chuffed to bits for Ferguson too. Yet another one that looks to have such a bright future ahead of him.
