I think you are right about it also being a tautology, though.

Personally, I think Mitoma is a misnomer. For me, it's more important that they rhyme.

Also, since this seems a frequent misunderstanding, me bothering to actually check something before I reply doesn't imply I care about it. If I care about something it's probably written on one of the cricket threads.
According to the definition you've posted, "Seagull" isn't a misnomer because it's neither incorrect nor misleading.
I'm not going to continue clogging up the match thread with this, because I'm sure some people will be finding it annoying.
