Just got back so too tired to read back on the thread so probably repeating what other people have said mostly so sorry if so ..

A rather dull first half which I spent mostly berating Lamptey for leaving huge gaps down the outside right channel which Liverpool repeatedly exploited. Completely forgot Ferguson was even on the pitch, and wondered what had happened to Van Heckeā€™s decision making.

I thought after the first goal, the second half was much better for us - Lamptey came back after half time like he was on a mission - he really is better playing an attacking FB position it was ironic he was one of the best, if not the best on the pitch second half.

Ferdi really impressed me as did Gruda but Enciso was wanting - Steele made some good saves I thought - When Hinsh came on for Moder, Fergusonā€™s game really brightened up too - he really needs that MF service Ferguson otherwise he looks like a spare sandwich at a picnic to mr - he seemed buoyed by having Danny up front with him but a terrible off target shot on goal left me feeling my patience with Evan is wearing thin now - heā€™s had nearly a calendar year to find his form again but itā€™s not happening.

- Mitoma and Danny completely lifted the game of course. What a shame we didnā€™t bring those 3 on at half time - I think another 10 minutes with them on the pitch we would have won tonight but we lacked precision in front of goal for most of the match - the stats speak for themselves. Liverpool on the other hand produced 3 very fine goals and a brilliant save.

Ironic that Lamptey scored a goal after I left though - I guess I deserved that after screaming at HĆ¼rzeler throughout the first half to replace him with Veltman or Hinsh ( silent screaming!)

Some excellent and very fast footbally-football in the end and a joy to watch.

Was really annoyed that I left 10 minutes early to get the train back to Lewes and was suddenly surrounded by 400 fans sprinting down the concourse passed me. I couldnā€™t get on the first train and was stuck on the ramp for ages - then got to Lewes to find there was a signal failure at East Croydon and my train was delayed for half an hour.

A lot of effort to get to the Amex from London and back late at night, especially as I had to travel all the way down from Norfolk this morning first but wouldnā€™t have missed it for the world - it was Liverpool ffs!
Game of opinions - as always. Thought Ferguson looked sharper than he has for a calendar year. Equal game amongst two changed sides. Liverpool clinical, Albion not so.

Thought we played well, and were slightly unlucky to lose yesterday. A good all round performance.

Lots of positives, Gruda, Igor, both excellent, Ferguson getting minutes on the pitch and looking a little sharper.

Lamptey was excellent going forward, but not strong enough defensively, I love his character, but my abiding memory of him defensively was getting robbed. Itā€™s frustrating because heā€™s a talented player and I really want him to do well. I do fear for Steele a little, he is still playing ultra high-risk De Zerbi ball, when nobody else is. I like him, but prefer Bart as our No 1.

No shame at all in that performance, and a useful trial run for the league match at Anfield.

I love Liverpudlian Liverpool supporters. I know a few.

Southern carpetbaggers, who picked an allegiance based on which player was the most 'cool' in their photo on the back of a Typhoo Tea packet in 1967, or who picked their allegiance based on what the cool kid in class (whose dad picked his allegiance based on which player was the most 'cool' in their photo on the back of a Typhoo Tea packet in 1967) are sad, very sad, arsehats.

And if they dare to smirk at our misfortune inside our stadium... frankly I might have had more to say.

For example, I may have complimented your neighbour on how much he looked like Mark Lawrenson, then asked whether the rumours that the great man was shagging his mother (X years ago - you can do the maths) are

Different managers, same type of Albion-LFC game, end to end ā€¦. never a dull nil nil and not a low block in sight. Loved the first half taking it in turns to chant and the huge welcome to Macca.

The Albion players whose all round game (i.e. they werenā€™t a defensive shambles) stood out for me were Wieffer, Ferguson (heā€™s back), Ferdi (heā€™s really good), Mitoma, Adingra, Gruda.

Enciso put in a huge shift and hogged set pieces but Iā€™m not sure that made it count.

Wieffer got the lowest BBC rating. Was I mistaken watching from the NS, was he sh1t?
Great first half, two wonderful goals and a great save kept the Reds in control. Really interesting at 2-1, but at 3-1 didnā€™t think the result was in doubt even when Brighton got a fluky second to make it 3-2.
Not impressed by Wieffer so far but some players need more time, good example is Gakpo who has been outstanding.
Looking forward to Saturday, Brighton need to pressure Robbo as he has been nowhere near his best and press high as usual!
Gruda looks like another fantastic buy if heā€™s allowed to develop.
All in all a decent game with the right result, also have to say the ā€œAlbion/Liverpoolā€ chant had me in tears for many reasons and my dear departed da would have loved that moment.

Same thoughts here, the huge Lamptey deflection was followed by no Albion threat. I thought Curtis Jones and Gakpo had outstanding games, Jones ran CM, so creative and probing. Robertson now past the tipping point, heā€™s lost a couple of yards. Even with his largely second string, you could already see an evolution with Slotā€™s coaching, more solid.

That chanting was so strange, the last time I can remember teaming up with opposition fans, was the Amex crowd joining with Wolves fans to attack their p1ss taking relegation team with Jamie Oā€™Hara!

A few years back when we played Lincoln City in the FA Cup both sets of fans were singing "we're top of the league" together, which was fun.

Then we gave up a 0-1 lead to lose 3-1 with the goalie getting injured while giving away a penalty and somebody scoring an own goal. Which was less fun.

First time I've been disappointed to hear the 'we support our local club' chant afterwards. Everyone was getting on so nicely!
ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦..so much so Iā€™ve seen multiple posts from someone on FB I know who is a ā€˜scouserā€™ (spoiler - from Haywards Heath) with pics of himself in the North with his (Albion) mate smugly grinning.

That said, if itā€™s ok for Lewis then šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

well there were coach loads of them going back north...... people shouldn't conflate hangers on with the genuine Liverpool supporters.

In many ways we already have this with the 1901 section but what if the club introduced a 'neutral' section for any fans and you can mix home and away fans? Its not like everyone wants to pick a fight and clearly when you have guest tickets some fans bring a mate form the opposition and they are not all loud mouthed kn0bs? Would that work? If not sure it would but if we had one small section that might keep the away fans out of the home sections and yet still sell the tickets especially for games like the league cup that never sell out? might need a general code of conduct especially for this section, not sure if this has ever been done elsewhere at top levels?

I'm viscerally opposed to anything that makes us more like Fulham or Swiss foreign policy.

It was an even game. They were just more clinical than us so Iā€™m not too disheartened with the win. I see palace went full strength and lost 2 important players to injury so I think Hurzeler made the right decision to make so many changes.
