Remember Ryan was a reserve at Valencia when he was signed - he is 28 years old and has reached his ceiling. He is what he is - a decent goalkeeper who turned out somewhat better than I expected, but could just as easily be playing for a Championship team. Upgrade at goalkeeper would move the team forward - but good goalies are difficult to find and can cost a lot.

Not often I say this, but I fully agree with you JRG [emoji106]

No doubt we will start the same against City, overplay in our own half and give the ball away because our first touch isn't good enough, leading to a couple of goals..

Well I think we can finally put to bed the age old question of who is the best finisher? Dan Burn or Mo Salah?

It's a shame we ended up 'doing a palace'.

Didn't give them a game.
No touches of the ball in their penalty area.
Allowed them all the time in the world...

...oh wait, hang on, absolutely none of that happened.

He was definitely decent. Its not his quality that makes people think he is bad.

He should change his name to Asier Mundobarrieta and get a wig and play the exact same way, and people will say "decent midfielder, at least better than that Stephens fella!"

That is absolute bollocks because you haven’t got a better argument - LEWIS DUNK is ****ing brilliant. Stephens though is not good enough to play as the defensive midfielder in this side.

Souness is my least favourite pundit but because of what he’s saying is dumbly basic it doesn’t mean it’s wrong. The element of naivety in our game needs to go if we are to get away from these bottom 6 grinds every season

Thought it was a great response at 2 nil down, played some great football. Once our midfield is strengthened I have high hopes for next season. Can’t be disappointed by being beaten by a great team like Liverpool once they bought Mane on it was all over.

Souness has gone up in my estimation after that summary. Bang on - lots of praise for us, but must stop the naive starts to give ourselves an even better chance. Pretty obvious stuff really, but it's nice to hear the praise for GP and our new style and respect for battling back to give them a game

We need to think about our style of play in the first ten minutes where teams such as liverpool always come out at 100 miles an hour. They are the best which means bigger, stronger and faster of feet and thought then other prem league players.

Two silly goals, yes they pressed hard but avoidable but then we did really well, again encouraged by some of the younger players biss and lampty especially. Unfortunately currently a step to far for conelly at the moment in my view.

If we survive and personaly I think we will especially if Villa do not win tomorrow, if potter has the chance to move a couple out and in I'm optomistic about next season.

I am disappointed in how propper is working out I had him down as a player who could be more influential but i still don't think hes playing far enough forward.

would have loved to have seen Maupay and Connolly on from the start they have shown they can stretch teams even Liverpool with the magical Virgil playing.

Also we do need to be more professional i.e. foul and stop teams playing and spread the yellows around a bit. Once Liverpool felt challenged they became much more physical...

We have at least 3 REALLY talented young goalkeepers but you would spend the mortgage on bringing in an expensive unknown over Ryan and all of them. Really...

Walton seems to blow very hot and cold - not an ideal quality in a keeper.

Sanchez seems to make a lot of blunders despite being an excellent shot stopper - not an ideal quality in a keeper.

Both have great potential but I'm not convinced either will displace Ryan. Good enough as backup though.

Had we had a forward that we got for a fraction of the vast sums Liverpool have spent, we could have got a result tonight.

And that is no criticism of Maupay.
