Well at least the neutrals and the Chelsea fans thought it was a fantastic Brighton performance even if a lot of you guys dont.

Lets hope empty stadiums will remain a thing for a long while so that this young team doesnt have to deal with your mindless negativity and ridiculous expectations.

Give over, read through the thread - loads of positivity. of course its frustrating though - as fans we want to win when playing well and not concede silly goals etc.

Expressing frustration on the night doesn't mean we have ridiculous expectations or mindless negativity, bar one or two usual suspects.

All message boards are the same, many much more negative than this, for sure.

This hasn't disheartened me, we looked like a decent premier league team.

We did, until Chelsea turned on the gas. Then, in certain areas our (known) frailties get highlighted and our naivety gets punished.

It's not just naivety, silly mistakes In dangerous areas, that people should know better about. Most of that has to go down to the manager, yes we're better but so are Chelsea. DIcking about cocksure, until we make a mistake . . . .

If we'd have gone in at half time 1-0 up . . . . Who knows.

Still in the ascendacy, but still frustrating.

This!

Well said. I’m astonished by the negativity, we played well as all neutrals saw and are saying.

They are a team of multi million pound superstars and we outplayed them for most of the game. Lost due to a world class strike and ridiculous bad luck. Wierd fans.

Always frustrating to lose... but we shouldnt read much into it considering their first goal was from a mistake you'd hope Alzate wont make again, the second was a strike James wouldnt score 9 times out of 10, and the third a lucky deflection. We played some nice football and largely tested them. We are screaming for that target man striker.

Did Ben White go off injured? Missed that myself, but someone mentioned it.

I don't understand anyone being negative about our performance tonight. Last year we had some truly dire performances but this was like chalk and cheese. We will be comfortably mid-table if we continue like that.

A good performance but the frustrating thing is ultimately we threw away a game that could easily have been a draw or better. Got to take our chances better, Dunks was a shocker, and we have got to get another striker to allow us to ask different questions than offered by Maupay and Connolly.

Why is it that every time we lose, I see more posts moaning about people moaning than actual moaning? Maybe I've missed something but not sure I have seen anything I would classify as unwarranted 'moaning' in this thread.

Most of that has to go down to the manager, or the fact that Chelsea's squad cost millions and millions more than ours?? I suspect the latter

Although, to be fair, we do also have a habit of making similar mistakes against lesser teams too, so probably a bit of both, I guess

Nope, mine too...

So frustrating tonight watching him charge forward and then all of a sudden he stops and checks, the momentum is gone and a shitty sideways pass follows....

It’s as if there is a force field stopping him....

It’s probably instructions, but so so frustrating....

Attack them, force errors...

I'm not a big fan of March but I though he was decent tonight. The fact he's not a nutter is a plus for him. And us, perhaps.

The fact we had belief for 94 minutes, and didn't behave like a pack of pub team players when we went behind, and that we looked better than (this season) Spuds, Bumly, Stains, Phlugm, some other shite, ah and leeds/Liverpool (metalists)....well maybe getting carried away at the end but.....

And exhale.

But we need to . . .we you can guess the rest.

we looked better losing 1-3 to Chelsea tonight after giving them a head start than we did losing 1-3 to Liverpool back in June after giving them a head start... and we looked pretty good then.

if the injuries are just little knocks I'm quite happy (and I'm a miserable git)

Perception/reality gap here.

Sutton was able to rouse himself from trips to the bog and arsing about with the Brighton bench he was sitting behind to notice that we were playing well for the majority of that game.

We were beaten because we lack the sort of threat up front that Chelsea have and some massive errors in front of their goal and ours...overall we were not outclassed by the amount their wage bill suggests we should be and it’s massively encouraging for me at least.

Bit of a turn round from your thread that i was replying to, but I agree with this one!

Everywhere you look, social media, forums, group chats, the same thing being said...if Brighton has a striker they’d be dangerous. We absolutely must be working on something.

That's the question I have right now, did we play better than last season and, is our Squad better now than it was last season?
I'm unsure, on both parts.

No contest. Much better than last year. The squad is better as well. Deep breath and you’ll be fine.

I get the plan with GP obviously a very good coach but get him some players ffs. We made two signings one didn’t play the other lasted 44 minutes. I don’t think it’s a ridiculous expectation to sign some quality especially up top. Your post suggests we have just been promoted and had a plucky go and be happy with losing most weeks.

I wouldn’t pay too much attention to the frustrations of a few posters on a football club forum and certainly would not link those opinions to the majority of people who attend matches.

I think you will find most Albion fans would have seen the positives in that performance but also will have seen it highlight our shortcomings.

We are a young developing team which inevitably is a bit naive at times which causes expected frustration but I still feel like we are improving and moving forwards and we more than matched Chelsea today.

Alzate mistake, WORLDY from James and a deflected goal (from Webster again). 3-1 utterly flattered Chelsea but like Leeds we are just another plucky loser. Bollocks.

My summary

Ryan brought the player down not sure he had to,

Webster should have closed James down but didn't and then turned when shot was at him .

Final goal was difficult to call whether Webster should have got more on it.

Dunk should have scored.

Maupay should have scored.

Rest of the game pretty much even.

Lamptey is brilliant

Why is Dunk not passing the ball forward like he did 2 years ago?

There is more to football than tappy tappy ... sometimes launching it is the best option

Have to be. It’s mad that we are one player away from a decent side. At the moment we just really don’t have anyone with any presence. It’s not even goals, it’s just someone up there worrying the defenders.

Because they’re trying to censor criticism.

Fans are allowed to vent their spleen about unforced errors and a lost opportunity. It does not mean that we hate GP or want him sacked, it’s not personal.
