If we don’t make a couple of signings before the window closes, at FB and in attack, I am prepared for another season of looking over our shoulders at the relegation places. Any thoughts of a top 10 finish will be deluded imo. The current squad is not deep enough or good enough once the injuries mount up.

Yes. Just started the ratings thread, and have suggested without FB and forward we are not supporting a good manager.

On a different tact if a club came in for Potter and he feels he hasn’t been supported in the transfer market - why stay?

Playing golf is a brilliant way to add realism to sport. You prepare well, have great anticipation at the start of the round but soon realise whether you or your opponent, ie the course, is going to have their day. You see it with the pro’s, all the ups and downs. At least at the Albion, we have an intelligent human in charge who knows all this.

Well I've just woken up and watched it again. The people saying it was one of the worst performances are miles wide of the mark. We weren't at our best and Everton were close to theirs, and with better players that's what happened. No one was particularly at fault, and I thought that Leo was good.

Bit of a break and hopefully get Tariq and Solly back. We desperately need some pace.

Hopefully it will be 'looking over our shoulder' at the relegation places. We shall see, but I agree - imo currently there is no way our squad is deep enough in certain areas to push up the table, and we have lost BW who offered a lot going forward last season and worked so well with Webster and Dunk beside him in defence.

I agree, it must be really frustrating for him, given the problem has been the same since he’s been here. It’s quite hard to believe that a PL club can continue to make do with no recognised LB or LWB for so long, luckily March and BDB have been able to cover the position. The striker problem is almost enshrined in Albion folklore now.

I wonder why I am expecting absolutely no action in the LB and Striker department before the window closes

A fair assessment, sometimes NSC posters think we are Barcelona, not Brighton and Hove Albion.

Spoiler Alert: We will probably lose against Man City/Man Utd/Chelsea/Liverpool etc.etc. Thankfully there are a fair few teams we will beat.

Predicted we will be 12th-14th at the end of the season and have no reason to change that.

Not sure I'd say the first goal was key. We had a very good chance to equalize but Moss failed to play advantage and Gross's free kick wasn't too much of a challenge for Pickford. The next goal was key and Everton got it.

I've not been for a while but for me it all started badly with the new goals and moments video they play just before the teams come out. Dreadful version of the song, faded pictures so you couldn't tell do was playing in the clips. Wonder how much time and money was spent ruining that

Very good analysis IMO. But we need to recognise that we are being schooled by the aforementioned XXXL and try and change things up. Not carry on doing what we are doing. Aside from the odd run by Biss (what an absolute player by the way) I didn't see much sign of that.

Still, yesterday at least confirmed that Richarlison has NO mates. Zero. I bet he sits on his own in the Everton canteen.

Thanks. The plan B from Potter which was 4 at the back did nothing, we just looked more confused. Potter likes to move the opposition team around and exploit the empty space for our attacks, Everton were having none of that.

And you’re right. Richarlison has the potential to derail their team if wound up properly.

Disagree..in midfield and up front( and in defence) they were far better. Perhaps lamptey being able to track back against gray would have made a difference but we were never winning that game.

I've no real idea where the exact line of responsibility lies but I'm sure both Potter and Ashworth are involved in recruitment decisions and picking the Premier League squad.

As a club we have decided to recall Karbownik from loan, not use him and send him back out on loan to an equally poor league as he came from. As a club we have decided that Bernardo, a recognised specialist left back that we signed in the PL era isn't as good there as Solly March, Dan Burn, Jacob Moder or Joel Veltman.

We have either recruited the WRONG left back or decided to persist with a style that needs a wingback despite the very obvious lack of them or both.

A genuine RB would have likely done better, Webster is a great player, he is not a RB. Too many square pegs in round holes yesterday due to lack of investment and injuries.
