Not gutless just wrong tactics wrong players at full back

Just a bad day at the office but not gutless

It's but like there's a huge choice with March also out. It's an ok performance and a poor result. Shit happens.

Considering we haven't strengthend the squad this summer (Mwepu - debatable) so far the performances are not entirely unexpected. Great that finally we've beaten a couple of teams we would expect to be around us, but struggling today against a far better side. Would agree that having NO left back or left wing back today is really proving a problem as is NO pace upfront.

Bad day at the office today but confident we'll be ok this year, although I'm sceptical we'll see any more incomings before the window shuts.

With March & Lamptey both being injury prone players, we simply have to have correct back up for the pair. It was meant to be Livramento & Cucurella but for various reasons, they’ve not happened.

The recruitment team has let us down here. They must take some of the blame today. We have a dozen choices at centre midfielder but seemingly only two specialist injury prone wing-backs. Awful.

Interesting. They’ve looked very well organised to me, use their wingers well and everyone knows their role, it’s not pretty but it works, it’s Benitez’s trademark.

They’re huge spenders over the last few seasons but lacked consistency and discipline. Benitez will give them that. They’ll be decent this season. But after the first half at Burnley which was just the oddest thing ever from Potter this is a little bit of a worry.

I think the club policy in general too. There must be loads of decent full backs over 25 around for relatively cheap. Not world beaters, just guys who know their role, steady heads. That’s what was called for this summer.

Isn't he the only one with a shot on target?

Has he scored today or this season? Has he got an assist today or this season? He hasn't improved since being with us in my opinion. Not saying he should be sold but he has to be our most frustrating player as he clearly has talent but I don't think he has a footballers brain as he nearly always makes the wrong decision.

They are faster, stronger and better and will cause problems to a lot of teams this season. Well done Everton.

Think it would have been a closer game with some fit wing backs but thats just not the case.

I don't think so.

He's made a great save and been solid in the air from corners.

He's made two errors this game - the pass out to the opposition player, and the pass back dilemma a moment ago. Neither led to a goal.

Those kinds of errors will become less frequent as he becomes more experienced, although even the best and most experienced keepers make mistakes.
Agreed. No cause for complacency, but hardly at the worry stage!

I agree with you 100%. Very overrated in my opinion

Yep, we always struggle against teams with pace and physical strength. If those sort of teams are up for a fight, then we can't really compete. Would take a huge change of direction for us to go down that route.
