They don't play as a two up front and that combo has worked plenty of times. (A few times when it hasn't as well). He clearly liked to have the two in midfield and the two up front combining to make passing boxes. Rather than a 3 with a number 10 and an isolated striker.I'm confused why again we have two number 9s (welbeck and fergie) up front. Our success has been built in 4-2-3-1 formation yet for second game it's looking like 4-4-2. Yes I know they all move around during game but can't recall last season us starting with 2 number 9s together
It's only a problem if we get outmuscled in midfield or give the ball away cheaply and don't have the numbers or legs to get back. Like west ham
