You could argue they achieved more in their careers but whilst at Brighton McGhee achieved more. He kept us in the Championship. You could argue Coppell was disadvantaged, but surely at most he would have achieved the same as McGhee?

I think you are putting too much kudos on staying up by the skin of our teeth. Coppell got a better team together, but was appointed too late, and was going will the following year before Tight sold him. Peter Taylor actually won the "third division (old money)" title.

You are rewriting history, or did you forget that with about 5 games to go Coppell had us out of the bottom 3, so he f***ed up rather badly over the last few games. I'd also suggest that Coppell was given far more to spend than McGhee was?
