Really pleased with my time of 1hr 43 and 43 minutes, not ideal preparation as went to a gig in North London last night and couldn't resist a beer. Weather was perfect and the course was well prepared and organised, considering the recent weather.

I reckon the course was about 13.25 miles as my Garmin didn't find a GPS signal for the first minute or so.

Congratulations on a cracking time, rest assured the course will be 13.1 miles. All official race's sanctioned by the uk athletics have to be independently measursured with an old fashioned meter roller so it will be spot on Garmins pick up your position within a radius of 50m and can be effected by buildings, tree cover and weather conditions. Also your racing Line won't be the shortest like going wide round a corner, not keeping to the left or right as tight as u can. GPS never claim to be 100%

I think you'll find it's normally a bloke cycling the route in the very early hours of a morning with an on board sensor. Much quicker than walking.

Lovely day for a run. 1:40:30ish for me. Bit disappointed - wanted to do something close to 1:35 but blew up at 11miles

Saw a few Albion tops - some geezer in a Albion training vest passed me at about 12 miles and was going well at that point

My running club organise a number of accredited races throughout the year so it is defently the mile roller still being used. It might be mounted onto the back of a bike.

Amazing fella, considering your earlier post aiming for 1.45. Well done

There was an article in Runners World about course measurement and they confirmed it is still an old school mile roller which is used for accredited races.

Good effort. I reckon the course was 13.1 miles. Sometimes my Garmin hasn't picked up all satellites but still manages to calculate the correct distance, maybe by estimating from the satellites it has connected to.

A couple of years ago they erroneously added 400m to the Beacon half marathon by mistake. I am sure they have rectified that and do not want a repeat.

My garmin had 13.18m so I'm sure as others have said the course was accurate. They got a lot of stick when they made it too long. I ran 1:39:29 so a new PB which I wasn't expecting at all. Lovely morning for it.
