Is he playing regularly for U21s. If so what is he like
Not sure if you're wooshing me given post #78 ha ha. but hey. Again. . he's not. He's so far played 20 mins of football for them and been in one squad out of 5. (4 PL2 games and one FL Trophy game)

Please, Barber et al, do the right thing. You know it's the right thing, so even if you don't have to, recognise the contribution Basingstoke have made to the player's development and reward them in proportion to the rewards we receive when a player moves on from us. It would be a drop in the ocean. We justifiably have a reputation for doing things differently - let's set an example once again.

Can someone please post the whole article?
We have tried. The main issue here is that it against the rules to compensate the club. That why Basingstoke are saying this isn't about us. It's about the ridiculous rules. We've been trying to find an answer (as you'd expect of BHA).

Coached him since he was 2 ? 😂

The kids on £75k-£100k a year. Why can’t he just chuck them a few quid ?

‘Connected’ as a 2 year old. What does that mean?

I’d take them more seriously if they hadn’t made a comment like that

For comparison , Solly March cost us £5k from Lewes

You come across as a dick on this thread (in my humble opinion, like).

Others have already posted suitable ripostes to most of the gubbins you've posted, so I don't need to chip in there.

However, Solly March did NOT cost Albion "£5k from Lewes" ... and for EXACTLY the same reason that Peart hasn't cost a bean. Solly March was in full-time education just like Brody was, and therefore was not contracted to Lewes.

Firstly. Happy Labor day.
Secondly, are you sure on March? He was 17.

Some dullard said we paid £10k - - transfermarkt said €5k.

I know literally nothing of young Brody, but Basingstoke play at Step 3 (one below the National League South). If he was genuinely better than the teenagers we already have (Ferguson? Enciso? Bounanotte? Moran?) then he'd have scored FIFTY goals for them last season, rather than failing to make the squad and being loaned out even lower, to Tadley Calleva in the Wessex League.

Dan Brownlie was, indeed, engaging in hyperbole with his statement but I don't think you're being entirely fair here. Peart suffered an ACL injury a couple of years ago and we know only too well (with Jakub Moder) how much that can impact a player's career. He made his league debut for Basingstoke (at the age of 16) in January 2022 and clocked up ten league appearances between then and the end of that season.

I have no idea how many appearances he made for Basingstoke last season (because I can't find the data) but I do know he scored EIGHT league goals for them (including a hat-trick against Uxbridge) alongside his loan spells. He also trialed with both Huddersfield Town (for whom he scored for their U-19s) and Albion.

Thanks - happy Monday.
I am absolutely positive on March - he was a student at St Bede's at the time.

Can’t believe they said the lad was coached at 2 years old - surely that can’t have been dribbling drills and shooting at that age?

...
I am going against the grain here I'm sure, but I don't really understand how a part-time club who deems a player not good enough to be part of their first team squad can really criticize anyone else when a professional club sees something in that player that the club itself obviously didn't and offers them a chance to make a career for themselves.
...

Another post that, in my view, completely misrepresents the facts of this case. You only need to see the (hyperbolic) statement by their manager to see how much they CLEARLY think of this player. He wasn't contracted to the club because he was still in full-time education (not because the club didn't rate him). And he clearly WAS a part of their first-team squad, scoring eight league goals for them last season.

No-one said he was coached at 2 years old.
But was it shooting and first time stuff or just passing and inside of the foot bits?

F**k me, what is wrong with people on this thread? Why do people just read snippets here and there and then post bullshit? I don't get it.

That works until more than one club is interested.

Is Brighton or, say, Chelsea offering the biggest bus/donation?

Long or short version!
C'mon sheebs, you need to highlight your jokey bits. My daughters fiance is a joker. The jokes on him though, I've known my daughter all her life and he's in for some serious whoosh moments!
