Can't help but feel Caroline Lucas will be secretly delighted with this result. Kitcat and his cronies have been utterly crap in so many important areas but none more so than rubbish and recycling rates that they were an electoral liability for her.

Martin Perry loses in Hangleton all three seats to Conservatives

.....and what does Martin Perry know about Hangleton and Knoll? does he live there? has he ever been there? does he live in Hove? Brighton? Sussex?

It's turned out pretty much as expected, The upcoming Budget Seminar will show the new councillors the harsh realities of the cuts to be made in the next 4 years to balance the books.

No, some very sensible suburbs have never been Green or close to being Green, and continued this on Thursday with the Greens being nowhere other than towards the bottom of the results.

 Greetings boring suburbs from the Green Hippy centre, I imagine people will all be happy with a return to the old status quo.

My ward still has 3 Green councillors. We understand that the Greens have limited control over binmen pay and conditions negotiated over decades.

Let's see how things massively improve while Labour (23) and Conservatives (20) fight over power.

Those cuts will be more deeper now with Dodgy Dave back in number 10 when he tells Gideon to reduce the central government grant paid out to local authorities.

Bloody greens. Keeping mother Meade out. If they have half of her goodness and willingness to help in their hearts, i suppose they'll do alright.

A whole party made up of dedicated Green activists and in many cases professional sustainability experts and not one of them could come up with a single idea on how to improve refuse and recycling rates? Our recycling rates and relative position against other councils went backwards.

The Green party has been in existence for decades and should have been like a whirlwind with their first chance at controlling a council in the UK. There should have been all sorts of plans and initiatives all written and ready for action given the experience and make up of the UK Green Party. Instead, they came, they saw, they bickered. They won't get a chance like this again for a long time, I hope they're a darned sight better prepared and more professional next time.

The reality is that the Green Party did not expect to do so well in 2011. But yes, next time they make gains there will be much more experience on board. The councillors left are a good bunch.

Er and the Tory and Labour groups together voted against them, still no overall majority!

So effectively the Greens will still have a big say in what happens, Labour and the Tories will probably not want to work together so the Greens will still have influence. It will be nasty when DC's next wave of cuts hit.

The arse end of Hangleton
why? what are Perry's plans for Hangleton and Knoll?

He's a person that has proven he can get things done - he'd have been a perfect replacement for Brian Finch to work alongside Dawn and Tony.
