Head-to-head
• This is the 25th meeting of these clubs in league and cup; Brighton have won eight and Burnley nine of the previous 24.
• A brilliant double from Craig Mackail-Smith helped Brighton secure a 3-1 win at Turf Moor in September; their first victory in eight against the Clarets.
• A home win will give the Seagulls their second double over Burnley; the first was 20 years ago.
Brighton
• Brighton could find themselves back in the play-off zone they vacated four months ago, if they can follow up Tuesday's shock 2-0 away win over runaway leaders Cardiff.
• The Championship's draw specialists (13 of 32) have won fewer home matches than any other top-half club; just six.
• On loan Dean Hammond is in line to make his 350th career league appearance, and fellow midfielder Gary Dicker his 150th Brighton appearance.
Burnley
• Mid-table Burnley are looking for a first victory in five Championship outings, having notched two points from a last possible 12.
• Although they have lost half their away games (eight of 16), Championship matches on the road involving the Clarets have yielded 54 goals (24 for, 30 against); only Watford's exceed that.
• Lee Grant is poised to make his 100th league start in goal for Burnley.

Nice to play against oppo with a proper looking badge after Hull's camp tiger and Cardiff's abomination. That isn't to say they aren't a bunch of whining northern monkeys of course, which they clearly are. One of two ways today I reckon - an easy 3-0 win engineered by a sublime Vicente masterclass, or a frustrating afternoon of missed chances with them grabbing a winner in the 94th minute when a PIG clearance clunks Adam on the back of the head and loops back for an OG. Followed by a right royal NSC binfest of "it's all Gus' fault for not telling El Abd to duck", "we're all doomed", "why can't we be more like Barcelona" versus "I'd have taken 3 points from Cardiff and Burnley", "we're still in it", "remember 5 years ago" etc
Sounds about right.

any win will do for me
but I would like it if Barnes scored the winner off his backside for two reasons
a) we would collect 3 points
b) it would shut the "Barnes out of the team" mugs up for at least one more week

Far too much positivity and high scoring wins for us. It's almost as bad as the 'loving that line up'/'three points in the bag with that team' type comments when the line up is announced. You all gone done and cursed us. I might not even bother going, now.

Will Barnes just walk back into the starting 11? I hope not, and not because I think he's not good enough on this occasion but the teams playing well and he should have to work for his place back.

Depends on who we have playing DM. If it is someone who isn't used to the role. Barnes may play to give more protection... Mind you Spanish Dave has proved he can do that very well indeed.

I'd guess Lopez will cover DM with Hammond CM and Vicente AM. That leaves three places,... Orlandi, Barnes/Buckley and Ulloa up front?

Just me who thinks it's fairly obvious Dicker will come in to sit alongside Hammond (providing he recovers)? He's been first off the bench in recent games to try and help us settle down in midfield, and has played a deep-lying role numerous times under Gus. I can't see why he'd gamble on Lopez or Calde playing an unfamiliar role when there's no need to.

Over there
The man in charge today Mr Graham Scott has officiated 29 games this season and dished out 81 yellows and 5 reds, so I reckon there will be quite a few bookings today and wouldn't surprise me to see an early bath for someone as well.

3-0 Brighton. Easy game. Vicente scores. 4 Gus to Chelsea threads and one more Murray thread.

Please. Just a straightforward no frills bog-standard home win. No hanging on at the end or coming back from a goal down. Just like the old days.
