Live updates from the Stadio Municipal de Albufeira - current score Sunderland 0-1 Brighton and Hove Albion

This page will refresh every 50 seconds.

LATEST SCORE: SUNDERLAND 0-1 BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

HALF TIME Sunderland 0-1 Brighton and Hove Albion.

43 - GOAL! Sunderland 0-1 Brighton and Hove Albion. Glen Murray steps up to beat Carson from 12 yards.

42 - PENALTY TO BRIGHTON. Handball by Zenden.

41 - Excellent work from Trevor Carson who climbs very well to catch Bennett's cross. He's looked very solid.

36 - Tidy strike from Barnes for Brighton but Carson has it all the way and gathers quite easily. Seconds later and it's a huge miss from Glen Murray, latching on to Elliott Bennett's whipped free kick. He really should've scored the game's opener there.

34 - Brighton in action at the other end and it's curled over the bar by Glen Murray. Decent effort.

33 - Sunderland on the attack with Zenden as the Black Cats edge forward with possession. His cross his high and into the arms of goalkeeper Poke though. Great name, Poke lad. Great name.

30 - Someone has sneaked a vuvuzela in as well. Can't have that now, can we?! Anyway, back on the pitch and Sunderland are back in possession as Trevor Carson comfortably takes a long cross into his arms under the lights.

28 - The town of Albufeira is being serenaded to the Gary Rowell song at the moment. Glorious stuff.

25 - Corner to Sunderland - their first of the game. Martyn Waghorn jogs over from the left to take it but it's onto the roof of the net.

23 - Bennett brings the ball down very well after McCartney had misjudged it in the air but his pullback is poor and Sunderland can clear.

15 - The floodlights have powered into action here as dusk descends upon the one-stand stadium. Reminds me very much of the Withdean... maybe that's why Brighton look so at home? Decent start from Gus Poyet's side.

13 - That breeze is becoming much stronger here in Albufeira and it's whipping down towards Trevor Carson's goal. Bennett tries a spectacular free kick from about 40 yards but it was always drifting wide.

11 - Controversy. The ball is in the Sunderland net from the resulting corner but the referee has spotted something and Glen Murray's header is ruled out.

10 - Magnificent save from Trevor Carson. Kishyshev fired in a wicked cross from the right which caught the wind and the Northern Irishman had to tip over.

8 - With Brighton active down the right, George McCartney has been a very busy boy so far. He ignores the snack vendor lady constantly shouting "ice cream" here in the stand nearest to Sunderland's left flank and intercepts with a cracking little header back to Carson.

6 - Play going backwards and forwards at the moment with no team really claiming possession and keeping it. Bennett wins a corner for Brighton though and Greer's header from the resulting flag kick really should've done better. Wide of goal.

3 - Bennett is looking quite lively down Brighton's right. He arrows in an attacking cross from a free kick but Kilgallon and Carson are on their mettle and cope comfortably.

1 - First shot in anger and it's Sunderland on the attack. The ball finds Martyn Waghorn in an advanced position on the left but his firm strike is powered high over the bar.

Here we go...

Just heard the club's official commentary team, Rob Mason and Stuart Vose on SAFC TV, whirring into action as the teams leave the tunnel. The temperature has really dropped here in Portugal as the sun begins to set. Lovely breeze floating through the stadium too - should make for a decent game.

TEAM NEWS...

Very friendly summer atmosphere here in the stadium as we approach kick off time. Two police dogs are going mental on the running track that spans the pitch, though. Wouldn't want to be doing the 100m anytime soon.

The Lads are off onto the field for the warm up, resplendent in their bright yellow tombola bibs. The pitch is looking in fairly decent condition from our lofty perch in the press box, with keeper coach Nigel Spink fizzing in some low strikes at Simon Mignolet and Trevor Carson.

Welcome to the Stadio Municipal de Albufeira in the very hot and sunny Algarve as Sunderland take on Brighton and Hove Albion. You can keep up to speed with the action in two ways tonight - simply keep it here with Lee Marshall for minute-by-minute updates or log in to SAFC TV for live and exclusive commentary with Stu Vose and Rob Mason.

The result may not be important in and of itself, but if we can maintain what appears to be a very good level of performance against a Premiership side that has to be encouraging and not half bad for morale.
