At the start of the match I'd have taken 2-1 at half-time but can't help but feel a bit flat about it now. Whing was asking for it and we should have had our own so it could have been better.

Half time and leading, we would have taken this three days ago, so it's good so far. Some impressive displays in the team, and even those that are not, shall we say, so skillful, have shown commitment to the cause. Gus should be quite happy I imagine, but will drive them on again in the second half.

And I hope someone punches Connolly in the face, annoying whiny little shit.

Well, exciting stuff! Impressed with Murray and Dicker especially but Bennett looks class. Would like to see more from Crofts i think.

Some first half observations:

Kuipers: has looked good. Commanding in the air and kicking's been fine.

Defence- look nervy(understandably, I guess)

Midfield: looked good in the first 25minutes, a bit awol in the last 20.

Forster and Murray: absoulte quality forward line. An excellent showing so fr.

Southampton look good on the ball when they're in the ascendancy. Looked fragile and no particularly resilient when they weren't on top.

We can do this, so long as we don't sit back and try and defend the lead.

Let's not sit on a lead for once. I can't see that working out very well for 45 minutes, not against this lot.

The issue was that the midfield went awol in the second half of that half - giving the ball away not making space not getting tackles in. Pressure kept coming back on the defence

Agreed, I think our players got nervy once they got the lead and then got put under pressure. But there is no reason we cant win this if Gus keeps them on track - let's see if he passes his first test.
