**Brighton and Hove Albion v Portimonense, in Ferreiras - Official**

Oh dear.
Last season we might not have won many/any friendlies, but at least the games finished!
What woeful performances/results we have had this year.
Bottom 4 by Christmas again!
Still we have Holroyd to look forward too, leading the attack in the opening games.

Absolute Cock of a comment

Where's this quoted from then. Surely you can't get a ban from a friendly - especially from a sending off by a non FA ref.

See above, FAI ref sending off Oatway applied in the League. Could be a UEFA rule or could rely on deals between the individual FAs, I'm not sure.

Craig Davies got sent off at Scunthorpe in the friendly last season and missed the start of it.

a banning depends on if the ref reports it to the FA. Doubt it will be clear for a few days, bet Gus is well chuffed

Surely we can show video evidence of Barnes being punched out of nowhere then maybe have a little fine for not being able to control our players and staff running onto the pitch ???

if he was sent off Barnes may well be banned but the question seems to be IF?

interesting that the club text commentary on the incident has been changed?

Results in friendlies mean nothing, and even if they did then the results for the first team squad haven't been that bad. The games we have lost, tonight excluded, have ended with the youth team on the pitch.

The game against Sunderland was some of the best football the Albion have played in years and we were really unlucky not to win it comfortably. I didn't stay out in Portugal for the game tonight but it sounds a bit like the ref called it off a bit prematurely.

'd take all the comments about Barnes being banned with a pinch of salt too.

Version 1:-

68: MATCH ABANDONED - Portimonense striker Ivanildo runs 20 yards to shove Ashley Barnes, prompting a mass confrontation between both sets of players and staff. Referee Nuno Guerbeiro and his assistants eventually leave the pitch and the game is abandoned.

Version 2:-

68: MATCH ABANDONED: A mass pitch confrontation between both sets of players and staff. Referee Nuno Guerbeiro and his assistants eventually leave the pitch and the game is abandoned.

Official text from club: MATCH ABANDONED: With Portimonense 2-0 up, a mass pitch confrontation between both sets of players sees referee Nuno Guerbeiro abandon the match.

Nothing about a sending off ???
