What is so hard to understand? They are the top scorers because of everything that goes on behind that. I have NO doubt that if they had Ulloa then he'd have had near double what he has got here. If the strikers don't get the service they don't get the goals and it's completely irrelevant whether you're a world cup striker or you're a league two striker.

That's slightly simplistic. Ings has created a lot of goals for himself from half chances, and Vokes has to some extent too. Also, they have created goals for each other on a regular basis.

Biggest crowd of the season coming off the back of some great results coupled with winning putting us into the playoffs...was kind of inevitable it would all go pear shaped.

Those day payers won't be back this season that's for sure and probably neither next season when we lose our best players.

I understand what you say but our formation with only 1 striker every game is not seeing us miss a host of chances every game, we're still creating very little. OG continually tinkers with the midfield but never plays a settled side. With so few goals being scored playing 4-5-1 this season, why is Oscar unwilling to try a more rigid 4-4-2. If he did this and we were rubbish then fine go back to 4-5-1 but why won't he try?
But they are NOT playing 'top goal scorers' they had Barnes and Vokes up front today... Both at best average strikers in this division. But they do a MUCH better job of giving them both the opportunity to score.

That is what I am saying, we need to shake up the way we play the game, we need to attack quicker and with more men, we need to go 4-4-2 like every other team doing well in this division does.

We do not need 'more goalscorers' we HAVE the goalscorers, we need to put them in a system where they can actually score some goals.

You're right. Andrews needs to go now. He won't be here next season like he wishes. 33 Y/O.

Where've you got this notion from? I've read that he doesn't see himself being back at Bolton next season, but not read anything about him wishing to stay here.

Julie is keeping his options open , at his age he might only be playing at pro level for another 2 or 3 seasons.

Great timing from the club, of course people will want to spend money on a bronze membership after a loss... :ffsparr:

According to the FL stats, we are creating a similar amount of chances to most teams, just not quite so clinical and perhaps the quality of the chances are not so great.

My little stats chart (before todays game). Ranked by total chances created.

Code:

If we carry on playing this formation for the rest of the season we're not going to get into the playoffs. Why not experiment with other formations, especially when CMS and Hoskins are back. 442 with ulloa and cms up front will be exciting. What have we got to lose. we might finish 6th or we might end up finishing 12th but its worth a punt!

Absolutely gutted, not so much with the result but we always perform badly against teams full of big strong players who work their socks off and pack their own penalty area when under attack. We should have worked out a way to play against these sides by now. Effective tactics by McCarthy today. Let's move on

totally agree
we should be at least playing two up front at home
we might have played well today it might just have been a blip but the results when looked at in the future will show
Albion 0 Ipswich 2
not
Albion 0 (but they played well and should have won) Ipswich 2
I really have tried to like OG (or secret Squirrel as I have named him now) but he does not have a plan B and I think sometimes he does not have a plan A.
where was Stephens apparently he covered every blade of grass in the matches before today he was not allowed to cover any today.
bloody hell I could go on all night
this reminds me of the Wendy season ....nearly there then lose, nearly there then lose and ended up just outside the playoffs
well Tony we are not going to get into the playoffs at this rate
summer clear out methinks

Thought we create enough chances. Ulloa must have had 3 really good crosses that he headed wide, and what happened with Lingard when e had that 1 on 1? It looked more like a back pass than a shot.

The above is a classic NSC comedy knee jerk reaction. We can't win every week; we just didn't take out chances today.
