Can't say I'm surprised. After watching the Soton game it was clear that we were still going to struggle against the likes of Leeds but I still feel hopeful for a recovery and a mid-table finish or above should be achievable.

Leeds were so, so classy - 3-0 is probably an unfair scoreline but hey ho, no grumbles from me.

Ladies and gentlemen, THAT is what it takes to get out of this league. Leeds were, without being spectacular or exciting, so so efficient and organised, with clinical attacking players to top it off.

It makes me laugh that people on this site rate the likes of Cox, Elphick, Crofts, El Abd, Whing etc as anything other than poor league one players who, while not totally embarrassing themselves, will NEVER take us where we want to go. Leeds set us a benchmark today, one we need to rise to in the next year. Currently I'd say we've got no more than 3 or 4 players who are up to it. Roll on the Gus cull.

You do realise that we don't have the revenue streams to build a team of that sort of calibre? I have no idea what Beckford is on, but I would guess that it is about six-fold of our top earner, at least.

We can't and won't do a Leeds. We are going to have to get out of this league, by building a solid unit with some further additions (and subtractions) and play to our strengths. We can't compete with teams like Leeds. There is a reason that they are able to poach players from the league above and that is because they pay way more than the rest.

Leeds are not a benchmark to be used if we want to play at Falmer for at least a decade.
