Oh come on, decent managers make things work to a degree. How can you not lump at least a portion of the blame for our defensive frailities virtually every game on the manager? Most of the fans have been screaming for an old pro to help the defence all season, so if the manager can't see it and get someone in on loan, he takes the blame...imo anyway.

Of course, the manager has to take some blame, but there are so many variables that to fire him because the defence keeps screwing up is throwing the baby out with the bath water.

How do you know that the elimination of these errors isn't down to Booker and White's inability to coach what Slade is asking them to?*

How do you know Slade hasn't made efforts to get in an old pro on loan or permanently and had his efforts thwarted either by our club not wanting to pay, the other club not wanting to pay, or the player not wanting to cme here?

How do you know that these mistakes aren't eliminated on the training pitch, and that it looks for all the world to see as if the players are going to get it right, only for them to screw it up come match day when it's too late for Slade to prevent it?

*Not intended to imply that B+W are unable to do their job, just that it's a possibility

To be fair, we sound like we are playing very well now and my father who is at the match says if we don't win this we'll have been very unlucky. Or shot ourselves in the foot again.

Still up 60/40 possession

'Pool have given away two yellow cards, we, still got 11 players on the pitch! No yellows (yet!).

Somebody said on a thread in the week maybe we need more coaches, i think that might be the case. When you look at the amount of coaches at places like Stoke City who are IMO punching above their weight and we have only two. Maybe a good defensive coach is what we need. Peter Taylor maybe he would come until he sorts himself with another job. Couldnt hurt anyway

I've been happy (well not literally) to give him the benefit of the doubt, with reservations until last weekend. Going on what you suggest we could spend the rest of the season making excuses for Slade. For what it's worth I would love for him to make me eat my words and turn it around but I won't be too sad if he gets the sack this week.
