Thought Ankergren did everything that was expected of him and that him and Brezovan will fiercely contest the goalkeepers jersey. Jamie Smith opened the game up when he came on and will provide a good back up from the bench when Sparrow is back on Wednesday. As I have said many times the first XI is good enpough it is the back up that is weak and Gus is strenthening the squad bit by bit. All we need is eithera first choice striker or an older player that can provide an option from the bench. My choice would be Tresor Kandol.

Forgot about Spaz being back on Weds. That's great news.

Don't need to. If a keeper gets lobbed 2 home games in a row, that is shocking.
So you know it was a good goal right?

You are so wrong. It was a good finish and nothing to do with keeper being at fault. If you're going to blame anybody point a finger at the ref who intercepted one of our passes allowing Walsall to break with us out of position on the back foot.

Keeper still to be decided, but need time to form a view

Back four with Greer back for the next League game already looking strong.

Midfield looking capable and Sparrow due back. Smith looking promising.

Barnes off his duck and Murray looking hungry.

Looks very promising even before we get one more front man to give us cover/competition and (ideally) a left winger to balance the midfield a bit.

Just lost away to the early League leaders. Very unlucky to drop two points at home. 7th tonight - very excited at the prospects for the season.

Sparrow back on Wednesday. I think Greer is back for the next League game.

The slagging off of Ankegren and Barnes by people in this thread who weren't even at the game is disgusting and tiresome. Frankly, do one.

Spot on, lots of reasons for positivity. Greer and Sparrow to come back, two more players in, hopefully including a useful LM and we'll do well this season.

Can anyone confirm what the red card was for? I assume he swore at the lino for the offside decision?

It wasn't offside. The radio commentators got that wrong, the linesman waved for the infringement (other reports suggest he kicked out, amateur mime made it look like the walsall player thought it was his arms being ruled as infringing somehow (elbow to the opponent etc)) and the commentators misread the waving as an offside.

We were awful first half - certainly first half hr. But delighted with result and we got better in the second half.

Must admit I'd have changed the system at HT because there was clearly no width and we needed it but hey what do I know - we won.

Macken took his goal very well , couldnt blame the keeper at all , walsall have picked up a bloody good player in macken , glad he did not start the game.

Bit surreal watching that from running track. Thought it was disallowed at first. Glad it didnt matter for anything - was a great finish.

Julian Gray, despite being ex skum, impressed me today. Think he was 22 on the left wing.

Agreed, although that spaz of a ref helped by playing the ball to a walsall player before the attack that lead to the goal. Like.
