I think Crawley are slightly unlucky in terms of their support. If they'd made the league pretty much anytime in the previous 30years they could probably have expected to get larger crowds. As it is, they've chosen the one time that Brighton in that time period have spectacularly pulled their shit together. If we were still playing at withdean and slumming it in the bottom half of league one, how many more would crawley have gotten? 500? 1,000?

And long may our success continue... fcuk 'em...

A) I am a Brighton fan, NOT a Crawley fan... why should I support another team? It is not mandatory... BTW, they had/have a Pal@rse shirt hanging up inside their home end... nice! So, no, I am not 'wrong'...
B) Resorting to a t0sser smiley just shows me that you have nothing meaningful to say...

C) In summary, I hope Crawley drop back down to the level their support deserves... fcuk 'em...

Just live in Eastbourne or Eastbourne born and bred? How could you not have an interest in your home town club if they made it into the league??? I am Crawley born and bred and lived here 48 years but Brighton were always my league club, I have had season tickets, followed them home and away and been at all the big history-making games but I have also always stayed in touch with my home town club and watched their games when I can. So far this season I have seen Brighton 3 times and Crawley 3 times and will continue to watch both teams. I am loving it this season so far - 2 league teams to follow, 2 lots of goal highlights to watch on Saturday nights, both teams doing well! If they ever get into the same division - a draw would be a great result!:smile:

And that, my 'friend' is why I can't support Crawley... I would ALWAYS want Brighton to win...

It's a good point. I also wonder what those who say "you should support your local team" think of all the people from the Crawley area who support 'big' Brighton?

'Support your local team' is more about the t0ssers who support Man U from Truro or, indeed, Brighton, or Crawley, etc. who have no reason to do so other than they are glory hunters...

I grew up in Seaford, roughly between Eastbourne and Brighton. Eastbourne Borough weren't even in existence then so I suppose you are talking about Eastbourne Town:) I only moved back to Sussex 4 years ago.

Are you seriously suggesting people should have to support their home town over a league club? Call me shallow but I wasn't interested too much in Seaford Town either. Brighton would be in problems if that were the case.

Point (A) - wasn't asking you to be a fan, just fed up with the tossers on here who keep giving Crawley a load of shit. As for the Palace shirt - I havn't seen it, if i did it would be ripped down!

Point (B) - See point (A).

Point (C) - I hope they don't, as for their support - it's a much smaller place than Brighton and doesn't have the same catchment area and the added disadvantage with the attraction of the big London clubs as well but their support has increased dramatically from about 800 per game a couple of seasons back to between 2000-3000 now. I am pretty confident they will prove you wrong!

P.s. Don't say 'f'cuk em' about Crawley than slag me off for posting a t0sser smiley . . . pot, kettle, black!

I make no apology for saying 'fcuk 'em': I intensely dislike Crawley... not as much as Pal@rse, I grant you, but more than many other clubs, e.g. I'd much prefer AFC Wimbledon to succeed... Crawley are JCL's who WILL fall back down the ladder soon enough... meanwhile, ANY impact they are having on our fan-base is most unwelcome, minimal though it may be...

Enjoy your split loyalty, and I'll continue to support my local club...

Oh, and there is a big difference between using a t0sser smiley in response to anohter poster... and me saying 'fcuk 'em' in reference to your beloved '2nd' club...

4996 is the figure I've seen quoted as capacity . Doesn't seem to be any demand to increase it beyond that right now. Where have all the fans from OT last season gone?

Probably having drinks with a large number of Albion fans who went to Cardiff but who couldn't have found Withdean, even with a Tom Tom?

Er you're getting a few things wrong here pal . . . 'Are you seriously suggesting people should have to support their home town over a league club?' - NOT what I said! Just to point out:-

1) My home town club (Crawley) ARE a LEAGUE club
2) I never said anything about supporting one team OVER another - read my post again quote 'and will continue to watch both teams'. As I said I have watched both teams this season and what's wrong with that? If the likes of BW and yourself just want to follow Brighton that's fine, each to their own, don't deride the likes of me who want to watch our home town teams as well.
3) You probably can't relate to my position properly so imagine yourself in my position but in your own home town - Seaford (do they have a football team?) are hugely successful and have just got in the football league, having bought decent players and with financial backing. All your mates, life-long school pals, work colleagues etc are talking about them and going to watch them. Are you telling me you would not be a teensy-weensy bit interested?

Oh and by the way - Glory hunter? Don't anyone label me with that for either team - was a STH at Brighton all through the dark, dire days at the Goldstone, went to Hereford, a STH for both seasons at Gillingham and only missed 1 home game, also STH at the Withdean for first couple of seasons before my job made me give up my ticket but I still get to as many games as I can. And watched Crawley Town since they played at the old Town Mead ground and lived not more than a stone's throw from my house.

Sorry for misunderstanding what you meant mate. I do not have a problem with anyone who wishes top support more than one team. It's a free country, we are all different and entitled to enjoy our sport in whatever way we wish. I don't know why you think I disagree with you on that. It's not for me but one man's meat etc. Of course Seaford have a team as do virtually all Towns, Seaford is larger than Lewes BTW. I don't think I would support them but I would take a passing interest. I never derided you for following Crawley, if I came over in that way, sorry:) . When I say they just don't register for me, I mean no offence to them or their fans but I mean that I can't understand Brighton fans hating them.

Well cheers for that . . . a bit more reasonable and understanding than BW's response!

My being a Brighton fan has NOTHING to do with why I dislike them.

it boils down to changing one word, I support Brighton over any club, they are my team...full stop. I FOLLOW Crawley as they are my local team that just happen to me on the up which i am very please about and long may it continue and if the opportunity comes around when I can see them I will, the next game i will attend is next Tuesday when they play Swindon, cant wait, De Canio and Evans together on the sidelines, has the potential to be explosive!!! I might see you there!! but it does wind me up all the Crawley bashing on here, there is no need for it, they are not a threat, they have not stolen any fans and they hate Palarse as much as we do.

No I won't be at Crawley v Swindon as unfortunately away on holiday but back on the 23rd just in time to watch Brighton v Leeds on Sky, then I am going to Aldershot on Saturday to see Crawley, then off to the Amex the following Tuesday for World War III - Brighton v Palace (got my ticket today). Agree with what you say about the Crawley bashing though and yes you're right most Crawley hate Palace as much as we do!
