She sounds as eloquent an argument as you could wish to find for the return to terraces and the abolition of the premier league. People like her are a cankerous sore on the face of football. Her and her ilk can f*** right off.

that barnet story is spot on. it's the smugness that londoners who supposedly support man u or liverpool, have over lower league clubs. the team may be better - but the fans certainly aren't. people can support who they like - but don't take the piss cos someone supports their local team over some faceless money machine. i hope they all get relegated

Neither here nor there
There are thousands of people in Sussex who "support" Premiership teams they only see on TV. I've given up caring about them - our ground is full.

They're missing out on so much. What I love about the Amex is that we've got 20,000 people in one place, from the same part of the world, all caring about the same thing. At a time when the world is getting smaller and more centralised, it's a nice feeling to be representing Sussex in this way. Football supporting is supposed to be a local activity - for me it loses all meaning if you don't come from the place that your team plays.

That, for the benefit of those irritated by "This".

I don't think the fact she goes to games actually makes her much better to be honest. I've never understood people who don't support their home town club. How can you relate to the club in any way when you live hundreds of miles away?

The whole 'only supporting a club when they are good' thing riles me too. I lived with a Man U fan last year, born and bred in.......Bristol. He'd probably been to about 10 Utd games in his life. Totally glazed over when anything Albion-related came up in conversation. How can you support Man U when there are two perfectly good FL clubs in your home city? Incredible.

I got asked by some Chelchesterpool supporter, once, what team I supported. Bit of a look of disbelief when I told them Brighton & Hove Albion. "Yes, but what Premier League team do you support?" was the reply.
What a tw*t!

A few years back i was in a bar in Worthing with an Albion shirt on, a strong looking young lad went into a tirade about us being crap, when He finished i simply asked Him who He supports, He says Man United, a crowd had now gathered around us listening, so i next asked him when was the last time he had been to Old Trafford, NEVER He says, Oh i say if it wasnt for people like me supporting lower league clubs there wouldnt be a Man Utd 2 watch on TV, now F**K OFF , to which the crowd cheeered me and laughed at Him, He sloped off to a corner on his own

Not the real one
Sounds like she knows nothing about football, nothing about her home town club and cant even tell on tv which fans are singing. It says it all that its really huge clubs like Man Utd that have a massive plastic fan base at their matches.

Where the f*** did she get that the Liverpool fans outsung us from? Didn't sound like it to me.

Just watching it on TV, there were certainly times when the home support seemed to be very quiet and I could hear the northerners very well, so she's not necessarily wrong on that account - just about everything else.

Your best bet is to try and get the daft old bint a ticket so she can see for herself. What did your wife think of the exchange?

Most clubs have been born out of a community spirit. Newton heath may well have once been such a club, but the "Business" which goes under the banner of mu does not. Man City, a club I greatly respected seem to be going the same way.
I am sooooo lucky standing on the Kop with my Dad from the age of 5, seeing a truly great team with great players and supporters. As a teenager standing in the North stand watching the triumph and despair of BHA through the mid 70's until our glorious Amex. Winning was great, but being a part of that human tide being Red or Blue was and is truly life changing.
I have little or no respect for the mu fan of the last 15 years. I am not saying their team did not deserve to win the trophies they have won, but the "Fans" are the worst I have ever come across.
This woman is the pits in my view view. Its her money, she spends it on a winning team but is likely to move on when something better comes along, I just wonder what her hubby does on those late nights at work?
