My ship at the time was en route from the Baltic to Casablanca when we had a collision in the channel. We went into Portland for repairs, I got the weekend off, went to the game which was f***ing brilliant, then went on the lash & got my leg over.
Now that is what I call a Brucie Bonus!!!

:clap2:
You can't really beat weekends like that, can you?

the we won 3-0 at the Valley with a malcolm poskett hat trick ...and there was a right tear up after the game.

My best run of three consecutive games, for goals, went something like:

Brighton 3 - 5 Charlton (mentioned above)
Brighton 6 - 1 Carlisle
England 5 - 0 Turkey

Twenty goals in three games, would happily settle for us winning 1-0 on Saturday, don't care about us getting a hatful.

I was there and, apart from the shere disbelief of the result (which Cattlin subsequently stated was all down to his game plan - only assistant at that time?), my memory is of the noise made by the Charlton fans after the match. It certainly impressed me at the time

We lost 4-3 at The Valley in about 1979.

That was a great game - evening match, if I remember rightly.

Just looked up in Rothmans - 2 for Wardy(1 pen) but who without looking knows the name of our other goalscorer?

And it was October 77 - the season we came 4th when Spurs/Saints fixed the last game.

That was the first year (of 3) I had a season ticket, missed one game all season coz I was Ill, and gave the ticket to a mate of a mate, who i didn't particularly like!

And it was the bloody Charlton game :dunce: :dunce: :dunce:

Just getting this right...was this the Case hattrick?

If so my Dad couldn't go so i went on my own but he told me that he had spotted Case in the all night cafe looking the worse for wear late Friday night (early Sat). My Dad was going to work. He told me that Case would be useless....he wouldn't believe me how he had played!!!!
