Re the first penalty,
they were both running directly towards h block, side by side, the ipswich guy had a hold of lynchs shorts and they were both shoulder barging each other, then suddenly the guy seemed to fall over knowing chances are he would get a penalty.
Well thats my view, yours probably would be different, likewise would anyones who was sat in the north stand.

There was a moment in the first half, one of the points where Kuipers made successsive saves, where Elphick was shrugged of the ball FAR too easily by their pacey striker.

Now if that was Lynch, I bet that many fans around me would have shouted atg him to 'get stuck in'. Since many people think that whatever Elphick does he is a world beater, I heard many 'Unlucky Tommys' from behind me. I believe that Lynch at his best is better than Elphick but that our fans are far more forgiving towards Elphick if he makes a mistake.

That's the nature of fans, you can't rely on them to be rational or fair. But I would say that Joel gets his fair share of supporters on here too.

The fact is that they are both young Tier Three defenders learning the game. We can't in all fairness rate their performances against the premiership standards that we see week in week out on the telly.

It was never a penalty and i was closer than most as was on the touchline in front of H & J blocks

Second one was a penalty though dead cert foul

Point 1 that was far from poor against a team that will be pushing for promotion in the league above us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Point 2 Virgo had a niggle and wasn't fully fit so MA done the sensible thing and didn't risk him

FFS YES if we hadn't conceded two penaltys (1 deserved 1 poor refs decision) we would have beaten a team who will be top 6 in the championship next season.

Yes we can still improve but i don't see many league 1 teams playing as well as Ipswich did.

Elphick and Hawkins as CB pair this season for me

Must agree there, although i havent seen virgo yet and would be interesting to see how he compares to hawkins. Having lynch and elphick doesnt work for me, two young guys are prone to mistakes, and in that position mistakes are very costly. I think elphick would be great with hawkins, there would be a bit of pace, and then a lot of strength which is whats needed most at the back in this division.

As far as the 2nd penalty again, i dont know where paxton dazo was sat, but i was in block h, 8 rows back, and Steward 433 was infront of my stand. And both of us, along with everyone else in hblock thought the pen. was a joke. It was a fifty fifty shoulder barge, and if anything were to be given it should be our freekick for the pervy little ipswich scumbag trying to pull down joels shorts.

did you watch ANY of the first half?

the game should have been dead and burried by half time - it was only a combination of superb saves from kuipers and poor finishing from ipswich that meant it wasn't. and there is no way kuipers is going to play like that every week

We are unlikely to face a team anywhere near as pacey and quick to move the ball as Ipswich did last night. The fact that we caused them some problems in both halfs and put 2 past them is encouraging. Lisbie, Haynes and Peters will be much quicker than most players we face this season. There is plenty of plus points to take from last nights performance.

Yes i watched the whole game pretty much as J block had 2 people in it the whole game.

Agreed we were under a lot of pressure the first half BUT they didn't score

Kuipers kept us in it not the poor finishing you stated

i remember them blazing several chances over the bar which they should have at least made the keeper work from

kuipers isnt going to pull off four or five brilliant saves every game this season. ipswich were very good going forward and i very much doubt we will come up against an attacking line up as strong this season, but we didn't help ourselves by being all over the place at the back in the first half

its a friendly.

What is the point of all this sniping and carping.

Hull got hammered by Crewe, Dorchester drew with Bournemouth, Plymouth were dicked 3-0 by some local side at the weekend.

Whats the big point?

Every season I played a decent standard of cricket we played against typically lower league sides with people getting a work out, people getting into the discipline of playing.

Sussex 2's ahve had some right shockers in my memory - being smased round The Saffrons by the MCC Cricketers for instance in a game that Colin Wells, TOny Piggot, Jamie Hll, Neil Lenham were playing in - all first XI players.

For Christs sake there are some drama queens out there. Friendly. Irrelevant.

did go last night but from the second half on Sat, it has to be Lynch and Elphick. Hawkins didn't look great, if anything bit of a donkey, and him and Elphick would be a very slow back line at least with Lynch he has a bit of pace to get back (granted usually to cover himself) but I think that is essential.
