Would love it if we could as he's at least as good as any player in Championship currently (OK not the potential of a couple). Figure the ONLY way we can get him from a money point of view is offer the 3 years and some stability. He'd surely get much higher 1-2 year deals elsewhere but might like to settle down and play where he's happy and starting in a style that suits him and in the best part of the country hands down

Perhaps this is going to be done to overcome high wages eg £10k per week for 3 years = £1.5m which is the same overall figure as £15k per week for 2 years but less drain on the cash flow.
