Andy Naylor has tweeted that there's no truth in the rumour and it's hard to see where he'd fit in.

Andy Naylor is about as informed as me or you, he just likes to make up drivel in a vain attempt to appear important. I would guess that much of his information is regurgitated junk from here with an element of guess work on his part.
For what it's worth, I would be surprised and a little disappointed if Liam returned. He would not fit how we are playing and would know himself, if he was lucky he'd be fighting for a place on the bench. Move on people.

Just being a little devils advocatey here but:-

'Liam Bridcutt can't play in a 4-4-2, so doesn't fit our system, anymore'.

Has LB ever played regularly in a 4-4-2?
If he hasn't then how does NSC know he'll be shithouse?

All the reason's for saying he can't do x,y & z, can be batted away by saying 'he's never had too'.

Regardless of whether he can or not, he apparently doesn't get on with our Chief Executive which means that there's a huge risk of a disruptive influence on our team and I reckon that disrupting the team dynamic would be a bigger risk right now to our promotion chances than playing someone out of position, so for that alone I wouldn't want him back.

I'm still sat in the Devil's Advocate chair:-

We all know Kayal and Stephens have been pivotal to this seasons success.
2 players doing the work of 3, against 3, therefore freeing up space for the wingers.
We're all pooping ourselves at either of them being injured.

Sadly Crofts can't do the job.
Holla has stopped doing the job.
JFC isn't trusted to do the job.
It has never been Ince's job.

So the club needs an industrious, tackling, ball playing, presence, who can slot in at a moments notice.

Ah f**k it, I just can't see this one through.
It goes too far against the grain, not because how he left and I certainly don't believe he's a potential disruptive time bomb.

But because I hate the fact NSC gets such a small club mentality when it comes to previous players.

There's thousands of Bridcutt's on this planet, get one of them.
LB had his chance and blew it hanging onto the coat tails of a crazy man.

Sorry to be pedantic but when did Holla ever do ANY "job"?

It is possible that Sunderland still owe money for him or Buckley and this is an easy way of getting it.

I think it is a fair surmise that Leeds have not get any £1 million spare change to buy a player and Cellini might not be willing to cough the dosh?

I'd love a player of Bridcutt's quality in our squad. I'd feel a lot more confident about seeing out the tail end of games if a Bridcuttesque(in terms of ability rather than mentality) player came on to form a three man midfield for the last 15-20minutes of games.

Agreed. Anyone that disagrees is just cutting off their nose to spite their face based on some media reports on his departure. If the club are happy to have him back so am I.

We are far too reliant on our central midfield pair. If anything happened, season over I fear. I would trust JFC, Crofts or Ince for a few games but not over any length of time. Also think he could be useful as a squad player if we went up.
