Here are the actual numbers.
The accounts make it look very much like £2.5 million received by the Albion in the year 2013-14.
I'd have him back. Let's face it, Hammonds original departure was pretty acrimonious, and he came back. And what you had with Bridders was a player that felt, understandably, that we'd had two more than fair cracks at going up, and wanted to play in the promised land sooner rather than later - and the chance to link up with GP, who once said that Bridcutt was capable of playing for Real Madrid was too good to refuse. His attitude may have stemmed from the club protracting negotiations to get the best deal - truth is we'll never know. But I think if we had the opportunity to take back a wiser, more mature Bridcutt, who had perhaps learnt his true value, we all know deep down we'd have him back in a heartbeat.
But why on earth would he chose to come back here? The whole coaching set up personnel has changed, the reaction from many fans won't be fantastic, he may as well start afresh somewhere else. It's not as though he's got blue and white blood. Why would any player from the Poyet era looking for a club necessarily think "Ooh Brighton fit the bill" ?
Question for everyone. Would you swap Ince for Bridcutt, given Ince is in the last year of his contract?
Weren't Sunderland reportedly interested?
The comments under that article make interesting reading..one such is this:
I think that the problem here is Poyet is unlikely to work again, unless Lineker takes over at Leicester and employs him and no-one else was interested in Bridcutt at the time. Its not like he was being talked about. It was a classic case of thick ex footballer turned coach buys players from his ex club because he knew them and a good reason not to give them the cheque book.
Personally i never thought of GP as thick
Derby are starting to looks certs to go up, ........

Straight swap no question Ince is neither as good as Bridcutt nor worth as much. Wonder how long it will be before he drops down a division to get regular games.
Two points here. Your absolutely right, Rohan Ince isn't as good, or worth as much as Liam Bridcutt . . . YET.
I'm pretty confident that in four years time Rohan Ince will, at least, still be playing for a Championship club.
I wish I had your confidence as I would love to see him improve but I think in 4 years time he will be Div 1 possibly struggling Championship at the best but we will be in The Premier.

If the club are serious about mounting a challenge this year and Bridcutt is available, irrespective of how he left, he did a fantastic job for us and could do again.
How many of you work in a profession that would have Bridcutt back if he'd worked for your company and then behaved like he did? Fecking madness to even think about bringing him back imo. Downing tools is unforgivable and I wouldn't care if he was Lionel Messi, I wouldn't want him back at my club. wink: I'm sure the club might possibly make an exception in Messi's case)
What message does that send out to any other player who maybe wants out at the end of the season?
Let him go to Derby or wherever and we can let him know exactly what we think of him when he comes back, and yeah I know some of you will be giving him a standing ovation...
