Swindon manager Andy King is in transfer talks with Southampton winger Brian Howard.
Howard, who has just returned from the Toulon tournament with the England Under-20s, failed to make an impression on Saints boss Gordon Strachan's first-team plans last season.
If the 20-year-old agrees to a switch to the County Ground, he would join new signings Tommy Mooney, Jon Stevenson and ex-QPR player Danny Murphy in King's squad.
A club spokesman said: "We are talking to him at the moment. Andy is still keeping his eyes open, but he is pretty happy with the players he has brought in."
Ryan Green is training with the Wiltshire club and is likely to feature in the friendly against his former club Wolves on Wednesday.
Didn't Coppell try and get him on loan last year or was that just paper talk?
Why dont we sign him now as Brookers replacement? We need to replace him.
Still, i spose DK cant compete with the Swindon chairman for wages.
