At least he knows how to punch when he cant catch!

All credit to him, he has taken all the disappointments of being dropped, Harper coming in and carried on in a professional way.

Other professionals should take note.

And people think i`m in love with Brez good to see positive posts on Brezovans form, apart from El Presidente who seems to be commenting on Ankers not Brez.:D:albion2:

Apart from the fact that he's extremely easy on the eye ... ahem ... given that we don't have the tallest centre halves in the league, especially when El-Abd is at centre half, I like that Brez is tall enough to get above the melee and grab the ball off defenders heads without that random punching that Casper usually goes in for.

Brezovan controls his area in a way that Ankers will never do, IMHO he is part of a team that can get us promoted this season, he will then rise to the challenge of premiership football should we get there. If we do not get promoted Norwich will sign him for peanuts, bens grandad will be happy as long as we make a profit, which could be as little as 50 quid seeing as we got Brez for free.

He very much does control his area which is something the defence do seem to enjoy and it instills confidence.

Being honest, he is not as good with his feet as Casper but overall, in the last 6 games, he has thoroughly deserved his place and I go back to my original post, it is refreshing to see the professional way he has gone about reclaiming it.

Time passes etc.

Stoke FA Cup Tie arrives, second string GK (at that time is selected in accordance with 'tradition or what') and poor old PB has an unfortunate game if you will.

I cannot remember when, if ever, PB played 1st team thereafter until the Spurs Match, pre season, and he made a shocking mistake on that occasion but, what about the first two goals, could perhaps CA not have done better than he did ?

So is it really fair to give a first team opportunity say once every six months to any GK ?

Confidence is the name of the game and, given some of that, PB has risen to that and more than acquitted himself in my opinion thus far. He also has the advantage over many GKs that he is a big b----r and for a GK that is a positive advantage.

He is nice guy so I hope that he builds on this period of 'security'

Me too, although he needs to sort out his barnet - it's too much of a 'got out of bed and couldn't be arsed to do anything with it' look for my liking. When I clocked him in the gyratory Sainsburys a few months back he was looking a lot more tasty, mainly I think because he had some product in his hair and he wasn't wearing that unflattering keeper's jersey.
I saw him in there on sunday, while I was working, he is massive!

He came on after 18 minutes to replace ankergren v colchester (1-0 down when h came on, drew 1-1), then played v huddersfield (lost 3-2). Games that came after we had won the title, and had lost our unbeaten at home record and the team weren't exactly playing for anything (huddersfield still had hopes of automatic promotion).

Between may 9 2010 and january 1 2012, his appearance for the first team:

Woking draw
Woking win (on penalties)
FC United of Manchester draw
FC United of Manchester win
Portsmouth win
Watford win
Stoke loss
Colchester draw
Huddersfield loss

He saved the first penalty at Wrexham, but I thought he could have done better with the others. Needs to improve. His instincts are sound but we have Liverpool coming up and they could be clinical.

He's barely put a foot wrong since returning has he? Hats off to him, I really can't believe we are looking so solid at the back with him in goal.
Why have you done that? 1 day to go and you do that.

Hasn't Glenn Murray looked superb since he arrived at Palace? A top class player we are missing badly. Palace's defence is looking watertight and I can't see them conceding another this season, especially with McShane at the back, Zaha is the new George Best, and their fans are the most handsome in the world.

(Hope this helps)

He is a GOALKEEPER, playing in the position where 1 slip up can cost you a match. Look at Man United, De Gea is making mistakes, Reina has made mistakes at Liverpool and these are the best goalkeepers in the world (Apparently)

Think people need some perspective, Brezovan could not have done any more than asked, and if he does make a mistake, thats life. I think he will probably keep his position for most of the season now.

Yes. I am aware of that. All I am saying is he didn't inspire me with confidence but now he is as he has been excellent.

Was reflecting on Brezovan's performance yesterday. He wasn't really tested but looked rock solid again and his judgement is bang on. I can't help thinking if we'd played him since the beginning of the season we'd be at least 6 points better off (eg Harper out of position for Nolan's goal v WHU, Ankergren giving ball away v Leeds for McCormack equaliser, CA mistakes v Boro etc).

Apart from Buckley, Brez is our Player of 2012 so far IMO.

It seems we haven't been challenged defensively as much since he's been in goal. I don't know if it's different tactics (since harper, the keeper has played it long more often, which I guess mixes it up, makes opponents hesitant to close the keeper down and leave the gap upfield etc), the team getting used to the division, or what have you, but I don't recall him being seriously tested, or even put under much pressure.

During our poor run when we persisted with playing it from the back almost every time, our opponents were closing ankergren down, really putting him under pressure, they were getting lots of shots on target that the keeper had to move for. Now with Brezovan in goal, he isn't being put under so much pressure when he has the ball at his feet (and I would worry if he was put under pressure, because that is his weak situation, imo). But most shots either seem to go wide, or softly right at Brez.

I would add Dunk to the player of 2011/2012 season as well.

CMS regrettably wins the most disappointing player of the season (so far).

Considering all the comments on here about needing a new goalkeeper only a few weeks ago it very gratifying that Brezovan has stepped up to the mark when given his chance. I thought his howler in the pre-season match against Spurs might make it impossible for him to have the confidence to return ( or for Gus to pick him ) but he has been excellent since he got back into the team.
