Except every Brighton manager has tried to replace Kuipers and only Peter Taylor at Div 2 Hull has ever tried to get him off of us,

What's that got to do with anything?

For every time Kuipers has been replaced, he has also always fought his way back in to replace the original keeper and retain his place.

Kuipers and Brezovan are both good enough for this division, and if we can retain their services, each would be the other one's competitor - what else would each need to raise their game in order to keep their place?

bit like Kuipers flapping at and missing crosses then blaming the defence for HIS failings.
Or diving for dramatic effect at a simple ball and f***ing UP again.

I take it your not a Kuipers fan then Raymond. Trouble is, that doesn't make your view look very balanced.

This is no Forum for balanced views, this is a football forum not a poetry society,of course my view of Kuipers is biased by the fact he has cost us many a game and is a poor mans grobbelar,a clown who plays up to the crowd.

Kuipers will win his place back as he has done time and time again. And why are we talking about letting him go, having 2 quality keepers is surely a good thing. ridiculous suggestions on here

If we're serious about promotion next season having 2 quality keepers is a necessity.

How many games has Kuipers won us then? He has had some dodgy moments but i rather have him in our squad than against us he always rises to the challenge and given the chance he will rise again, he is a superb competitor and with his experience he is quality in this league and the Championship.

Poetry society eh? Oooh my aching sides,
You seem to have supported the team a few years, how do you (& others) develop such an irrational hatred for a player that every manager in recent memory has seen fit to play as 1st team keeper.

Two quality keepers, what's not to like.
Brezzo said on the phone in, "It's easier for me, I'm big."

He should definitely be given a new contract at the end of the season with Kuipers being released.Next season we should sign fon Williams and install Brezovan as the number 2 keeper

Hatred for Kuipers? no, but no respect for a senior pro who did nothing to protect a kid Goalkeeper from unjust criticism.

My reservation about keeping Kuipers on is that he's been past his best for several years now (arguably since busting his shoulder), and is not going to get any better again. He's cost us goals this season (like all our keepers have, to be fair), but inevitably blames the defence for them. I can't help wondering what the defence make of his rants sometimes, he appears borderline unstable if you watch his reaction to conceding goals on the mid-season DVD. I don't expect any keeper to be happy to concede, but it would probably piss me off royally if I was a defender having Kuipers blaming me for EVERYTHING that goes wrong, even those that are clearly his fault.

And before anyone comes up with the usual "But Michel is a brilliant shot stopper" argument...well frankly (1) he's not that great these days and (2) I don't regard that as a bonus feature in any case, it's a minimum requirement for a goalkeeper as far as I'm concerned. It's his JOB to be a shot stopper. He doesn't appear to have any great advantage over Brezovan in that respect. Brezovan is also more dominant in the box, better (in the main) at kicking and distribution of the ball, and isn't half handy facing penalties.

Personally I don't think Kuipers is worth another deal because of his age, injury record and the fact that he is inevitably going to get worse, not better in the next two or three years. Get a new face in, it's time to move on to better times, even if it means breaking ties with the last few faces from the Micky Adams (1) era. Onwards and upwards, no more of the sympathy votes for the old boys club.

By all account ? ? ? You weren't even there and you're consigning FDM to the bin ? ? ? Shame on you...

No need to be such a drama queen :lolol:

Taking the view that Kuipers doesn't warrant a new contract (hardly "consigning FDM to the bin") is not necessarily to do with today's performance. I wasn't there either but I still think it's likely we will keep only one of the two and that Brezovan is the better bet on recent form.

I play football with some guys for fun/fitness/socialising, some of them take it quite seriously, and one of them will blame everyone else for mistakes. It pisses me off when he blames other people, whether I'm the one on the receiving end or not. Maybe I'm being naive, but I like to think most of the team are friends, especially those who have a working partnership. I imagine Kuipers berating Elphick for Kuiper's error would piss of Virgo ads much as it pisses off Elphick*

Brezovan is a good keeper but come on he is not that much better if at all than Kuipers. Yes he is playing alright at the moment and we have stopped conceding as many, however this is mainly down to the excellence of our full backs and renewed confidence between the 3 center backs.

Brezovan has unfortunately displayed on many occasions that he has a real weakness and that is catching and keeping hold of the ball. At least once a game he will drop one and sometimes it will just appear "run of the mill", then there are times where he will be punished, for example Wycombe.

I may be being picky now but the consolation goal against Charlton he seemed erratic and didn't need to come out, the throw to Virgo towards the end of the Leeds game as well, that arguably cost us the match.

He is a decent keeper, but both him and Michel are very similar in ability as their pros are then out weighed by their cons. Brezovan is not the keeper that will get us promoted, yet neither is Michel, however he is an Albion fan and that is why he should be retained over Brezovan. They are both similar in ability, but Kuipers experience and will to win for the Albion for me makes him no.1.

i **read somewhere** that it's an important part of a great keeper's pyschology NEVER to accept blame but to always blame others (while the game is in progress anyway). something to do with keepers needing to have massively high confidence and not a shred of self doubt or otherwise it ruins their game. makes some sense to me as keepers have to spend a lot of time standing watching and need to stay focused.
